Been using y HF 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 for more than 5 years with no issues. Have installed a complete heads and cam and several intake installs with no issues.
I thought I would add this, I purchased my Craftsman wrench before I moved into my house in 1985 so have had it over 30yrs and used it on all my project cars & daily drivers I have owned.
I work for an Aerospace company and I recently took my wrench in to be calibrated and was told it is still within the 4% accuracy spec that is apparently the industry standard for mechanical torque wrenches. I was surprised considering it's age but was also impressed, so I would say buy quality if you want it to last.
jackthelad what is your zip.i received a flyer the other day and they are 21.99 down from 29.99.i would like to go on and enter your zip.thanks jim.
It's not a question of zip. It was a special coupon with a scan code included in the flyer I got. Don't have it anymore as I gave the whole thing to a family member.
Craftsman ,my brother- in- law back years ago build Bush race Engs. $35,000 to $55,000 EA used Craftsman was years back but none blew up so I guess worked ..
Harbor Freight torque wrenches rate among the best as far as accuracy.
Got all three with shipping and tax $43. Didn't think that was too bad. Was going to get 2 ton low profile jack but couldn't get another coupon to work for it.

My Craftsman 1'2" drive torque wrench crapped out last week, after 20 years of faithful and frequent use. Since I consider it an important tool in my tool chest, I wasn't going to "cheap out". However, I found the prices of TQ wrenches these days, to be all over the map.
Wound up with an Armstrong (made in the USA) TQ wrench, bought online, for $180.

I was just at Sears this afternoon and they have all the torque wrenches on sale for 50% off. Most all are $39.99 including the 1/2 drive x-150 ft-lb. I didn't look at the digital ones since I have no desire to own one of them, all the manual ones were 40 bucks each. Great score on their wrenches, and the do come with at least a 1 year warranty even if they don't get the lifetime coverage.

Reason: Whoops, wrong price. 40 not 50.
Oh yeah, I'm going to trust my life or engine with a $10 wrench. You get what you pay for if you are lucky or smart.
I was shocked at today's prices for a GOOD torque wrench. I'm sure that I didn't pay more that $60-75 for my Craftsman, but as I previously mentioned, it was 20+ years old. The first "clicker" TQ wrench I owned, came from Harbor Freight, back in the 80s. I think I used it 2-3 times, before it broke.....

I looked into them, prior to making the purchase that I did, as they also have a good reputation. As much as I wanted a new wrench ASAP, to finish a project I was in the middle of, I wasn't going to get screwed over, by the local tool wholesalers, Graingers and MSC. They both had a CDI that was very similar to the Armstrong wrench I bought. However, the local places wanted $262 and $279 respectively, plus tax. I wound up mail ordering the Armstrong wrench for $180 plus $10 S&H.

Those numbers are quite high. I bought mine on Amazon for half those prices.

I looked at Amazon, before I bought my wrench, but I currently have a "hard-on" for them, since they totally screwed up shipping my last order, and therefore I shopped elsewhere.....
