Default Tune needed with headers??

Hey guys,

I am thinking about putting headers on my bone stock 2002 Z06 (so far just zip tie mod). They would be 1 3/4" long tubes.
What kind of tune would I need, or, what changes to the factory tune would be needed for this?

I can find some used new headers easy enough and stuff, and a buddy and myself were gonna split on the HP tuner. But I want to make sure this car runs as good as possible compared to stock.

What have you guys had to do for tunes with headers?
Local tuners here for me are not really an option.

Thanks

Yes, you should get a tune for after installing headers. If you intend to do an air intake at some point, you should get that out of the way as well. I had both of my vehicles tuned by other people (Blackbear tuned my Silverado, Nic D tuned my Z06) and I haven't used HPTuners yet (I have it, but I broke my car after I bought it and have been busy putting it back together when I'm not out of town) so I can't help you there.

Headers gained me 18 rwhp the tune picked up an additional 12 rwhp. If you want the most optimized combo I suggest getting it tuned. You could run around without a tune, but you are leaving some power on the table.

18rwhp is significant for sure.
Do you guys know much about Dynatech 1 3/4" LTs?
If so do they fit decent?

Thanks
