Replacing Lights with LED's
I recently got a pack of LED's for upgrading my interior lighting in my C5.
I can not figure out for the life of me how in ******* **** I'm supposed to remove and replace the bulb in the glove box in particular.
Any help on that specifically for a C5 would be great.I attempted the trunk lights and can easily get to the bulbs, but how do I remove the bulbs out of their place?
Couldn't figure that out...I have not yet attempted the Footwell lighting, license plate lights on the back, or the underhood light, so any detailed guides on that would be greatly appreciated!
An example of exactly what I do not want is this;
https://www.corvetteforum.com/how-to...th-leds-368580
Why?
Their instructions are extremely vague. Example;
"For underhood lights in the '97 C5 Corvette, replace the stock bulbs with 212-2 Festoon lights. Replace the bulbs of all other C5s with Type 561 rigid loop LEDs."
Ok, great, HOW DO I DO THAT.
I have the right bulbs and what not, I know WHAT to do, I need to know HOW I do it!I feel anyone attempting to help me should know I can build computers but I've never done a single modification to a car in my life, other than the rear view mirror lights tonight in my C5 (successfully got those swapped for LED's).

I believe I wrapped it with a piece of rubber and then used long nosed pliers. Trust me, you can get it out!!
What kind of rubber? Where would I get a piece of rubber?

Grasp the light cover like in the pic below and squeeze the two ends...
while gently pulling out...one end or the other should release and then the opposite end will slip out as well...
Gotta love LEDs they make a huge difference!!
Mine fell out somehow, happen to have a spare ??

You can see how easily they are removed... at the next car show find an unattended car and borrow one...
just kidding...

I've tried browsing through the new LED thread and can't find anything on the glove box light... Only find stuff on the HVAC lights practically...

Footwells; Check!
Trunk lights; Check!
Glove Box; Still needs to be done.... Can't figure out how to get the bulb out...
Underhood light; Not sure how to hook the light on... seems the copper parts where the hooks go are too thick for the tiny hooks...
All that's left to do are the glove box light and the hood light.
Any guidance on installing those?
I got the cap off really easily on the hood light, but how do I actually get the loops on there?

All except the map lights are 194 type bulbs. Here is where i bought mine from

I live a few feet away from their physical location so I stop in here all the time.

Also be prepared to use a bit of force to get the old halogens out, not too much though, don't want to shatter the bulb. And when you get it in, have some cleaning material ready, there's a metal reflector in there, if you scrub it down it cleans it up and if your LED's end up being pointed towards the reflector, and if your reflector is clean, it'd be just as bright as if they were pointed straight down, so it gives you a wider angle of success so to speak.
Also, one thing to keep in mind, if you've got the auto dimming light, you already have LED's installed, so no need to worry about upgrading.So I ended up getting the glove box light installed successfully!
Turns out there are two clamps that let you slide out the whole housing, making it super simple to pull out the bulb and swap it out.Just need the hood light done, any suggestions?

The wire loops on the bulb were too short, so I unsoldered and replaced those with long L shaped legs from music wire (the existing loops were too short to cut and rebend):
I then modified the ends of the bulb holder clips by cutting two slots in them with a small Dremel fiber cutting wheel:
Bingo...problem solved.
Make sure you get the lengths of the wire legs right, too short and they won't fit, too long and the bulb will not be retained with enough tension (though you could bend the tabs a bit, but I was worried about breaking the plastic mountings).

This looks interesting...
