So many stories about the hash stripe legacy. I've seen some early pics of Carrols Cobra's from LeMans with the red stripes. Then the Z06's at Nassau to help ID the cars for the pit crew. Like the car number wouldn't be a clue? Of course the 96 GS that recaptured the idea. To todays Blow-Pars and Rustangs.... Who cares any more?! Like any stripe over the roof, its your car. Stripe it and enjoy it.
To each their own, but I've never been a fan of the stripes on corvette fenders, I understand it's part of racing history but wasn't they only used in a couple of races? I think they may have came on a C5R and maybe another one at some point.. But I just think they look out of place.. Am I the only one?
No, you are not the only one. It's to deal with stuff like this that rubbing compounds were invented.....
It's such a completely reversable mod and after owning my car for 10+ years, it was nice to change it up a bit.
I've received many compliments and even people who approach me at shows and Corvette runs and say "I saw your car at ______" because they recognize the fender stripes. I think that's pretty cool.
I also laugh at how my fender stripes and red FRCs upset so many Corvette purists, like I broke some kind of unwritten Corvette commandment.
If you like them, install them. If you don't, pass on the mod! Pretty simple.
