I don't HAVE to look at it to know it's fugly! I know I'm fugly but I don't run around lookin' in mirrors to remind myself of that fact. Some people care about how their possessions look. For example, there are those who polish their exhaust tips and there are those who don't. I can guess which class you fall into...
You polish your "tips", I have lots of toys to keep clean, worrying about a front plate is not even on the radar since all the other cars here also have front plates, time for you to get a life I think.

Ah, the classic example of "How to Win Friends and Influence Enemies"
No one asked you to come in here and start a bunch of **** - you have nothing CONSTRUCTIVE to say? Stay the F OUT! a-hole
I think the state of California , like many other financially strapped states, would do well to do away with requiring a front plate.
That alone cuts the cost by 50%.
I would much rather have the filler plate that came with the car, but don't want to give LE any reason to stop me.
As long as the law requires I have a front plate, it might as well be something I want, which is why I chose the personal plate I did.
I see a lot of people in crosswalks, when I am stopped at a light, looking down and pointing at the plate, and smiling.
Long as it has to be there, I think it should say something.

50% of what? It's not like they have to ship you two new plates every year, the way Colorado used to.
The last time they changed the plate law, it was to require more plates: used to be, the first California plates a car got stayed on forever. Now they issue a new number when a used car is sold by a dealer...I suspect they'll do the same for private-party sales eventually.
It all depends on the LEO i have been lucky i guess passed by several LEOS from different counties with no problems, yea i know my days are numbered, but here in NY LEOS usually mess with rice rockets instead
very true, indeed

Knock on wood...............I haven't run a front plate since '85!!
I would love to not run a front plate on anything either. Motorcycles don't. But, if required, the people that don't run a front plate just end up looking like another DORK waiting to get pulled over, like my son with several hundreds in fines. I don't need the cops with anymore extra reasons to talk me is the plan, despite how cool it might be. Right up there with tail light, window tint, and straight exhaust.
thanks guys - can't WAIT to get back to NY, clean out and get down here permanently! Let's just say my opinion of the idiots that run NY and the weather isn't very favorable. Beautiful state other than that though!
I run the front plate if required even though it looks like chit. I don't need to be asking for any unwanted attention. I was REALLY looking forward to putting the matching filler plate back on, but such is life.
I'll have to check out the map and see how many and where all of the Fla guys and gals are! Actually, I should probably re-mark my own marker I guess.
Thanks Craig! We're going to be just north of you in Rotonda. BTW - who's the best Vette shop around? I'm not a "wrench" so I'll be in need of a GOOD shop. I should probably start a separate thread on that though...

We have a vacation place there. The humidity is rough but it beats the snow.
Anyway...enjoy your Vette there. The thought of a front plate did not have enough support!!!! You are free!!!!!!

Thanks! Yeah, we know the humidity's gonna crank shortly but as you say, it doesn't have to be shoveled, it won't give ya frostbite, getting away from the tax and spend idiots who run NY are all positives.
We put our house in NY on the market after we were sure about the deal here in Fla and the NY place sold in one freekin' day! So now we've got to get back up there and get it cleaned out! I ain't *itchin' though.
I live in upstate NY and recently have talked to other Vette owners that have been ticketed for the no front plate BS. What is the best plate holder (manual) that is easy to install on a 2004?
NY has a proposed legislation in the works for two years now to drop the front plate if you pay $50 a year. But after reading another post re the traffic light cams and no plate to photograph, I would think this legislative piece is dead in the water.
Why you guys make such a big deal out of a front plate is beyond me. About the only time I even notice mine is when I wash the car.
I don't run a front plate in my car (live in NJ), but having to use a front plate was a major strike against getting a C6 for me. At least a C5 is reasonably attractive with a front plate.
