Yes, almost makes me wonder what will happen if I change my mind and decide to just go with just the new air intake!! Lots of good advice though. Just really need to see if it is worth putting $5k into the engine if all I really do is drive the country roads on weekends. The car is pretty fast as it is (even with just the stock engine)

Mr moose you may have a point..IMHO these cars are pretty darn fast just stock. best part your car remains unmolested. So many are "modded" to death.. Look back, the most valuable cars are bone stock.

Yes, I am thinking that at the end of the day, I may just stick with changing the air intake. It is easy enough to change back. These cars are fast enough and quite frankly, I would rather spend the money on the exterior.

If you're only planning on swapping the intake, I would save your money. No real performance gains through intake alone, and the $200-$300 could go towards your exterior mods instead.

Thoughts?
You are correct in your thinking. Anything is better than the stock air box, it is very restrictive. A Ls6 mass flow sensor, ls6 intake, larger air bridge. Catback system. More air in more air out. Little at a time won't brake the bank. Tune along the way. You will see improvement in performance.

thanks everyone, may just leave the engine stock after all - I took it out on the weekend, for a stock engine, it is still VERY fast. Money is probably better spent on exterior mods

Vararam B2 you can feel the power right away I went from stock air box with k&n filter to a open are filter with vararam air bridge to the full ram air system and it was well worth the time and money. Get your self a LS6 intake manifold port and polish throttle body with full exhaust and the ram air get it tuned and you will feel the difference in power no problem getting your 30hp from those upgrades and you won't have to Crack open the motor for them
