As for dealers - In Florida you have to divorce that.... my experience here is that if you buy from private and don't have a mechanic you absolutely trust you might as well go to Vegas and play blackjack.

so dealers tend to keep it safer.....
.....Please don't ever believe that.......

This forum is full of one owner corvettes for sale and they are 1000 times more "safe" than 99% of the dealers trying to sell.....

Especially a C5....

Do your homework, find the car you want and search for it.....

Take your time, get the deal you want.....

There is nothing safer than a one owner garage queen and there are hundreds of them out there for sale....

Get your loan set up at a credit union or somewhere else and skip the dealerships. You are spending extra thousands shopping there.....

Good luck....

I'm sure on the C6 forum they said to buy the C6, and here on the C5 they are going to say buy the C5. Both are cheap here in FLA, don't rush and get a deal which ever way you go.

And if you are "trusting" a dealer, don't. All they care about is getting the money from you, and pushing another car out the door. Not sure what you're paying, but if it's $20k or more, go with the C6.

financing is the LEAST of my concerns, but I also am not going to buy across the nation.

I like one owners in all my cars, I'm really looking for the draw on this. Dealers I can handle, they typically hate me more than I have ever hated them.

If I look at what you are saying then I am guaranteed to buy out of state. Not my cup of tea but ok.....

oh before I forget - "draw" - run the clock forward add some miles....considering I put on 6000-9000 a year..... which car would I loose less on over time.

want the C6 at 19-20k and the C5 no higher than 22K, which is based on kbb, Edmunds, nada, and then a couple of nationwide scans of the same models, equipment, and having to sit here and figure out the highs and lows.

As for the dealers, I never trust them, which is why they hate me so much. BUT I also have had enough experiences that I trust no one in this state that wants money for anything. I typically find that 99.995% are selling BS. I have scrutinized, and know on each there are a couple things I have to accept. Example on the C5 I need to put tires on before the end of summer and the C6 needs tired by next March. C6 has a window grind drivers side that has to be corrected else I won't accept the car, since it's not window rub on the seal but the actual mechanism.

Honestly I'm in about 30 Vettes so far and there is no difference dealer or not dealer....and I do not get near side lot dealers. I look at nothing unless there is a carfax.

So I'm safe on the front, it's the choosing.

03 hands down for me. I just like the looks, and low miles, and records better.

One that hasn't come up here or the C6 thread......

the C5 has one leading advantage now - I found a thread over in C6 talking about GM making a bad decision routing the exhaust under the console.....temps of 120 etc....

This is a huge factor, yeah yeah "you can buy and install and aftermarket" my view is the is a Corvette - GM should have their heads on straight....... not that I have to spend additional $$$ to fix what they got wrong.

Really you just have to weigh the pros and cons of each...

The C5 has a well documented history, for some that makes it worth it.. The C6 is more modernized and has more creature comforts on it, but it really depends on what you want. I personally like the C5. I find it more comfortable and prefer the design.

What are some of the things the C6 has that the C5 doesn't?

Factory HID headlamps
Keyless access and push-button start
Heated seats
Factory navigation and XM radio optional

If you can live without this stuff or add it to a C5, then I would go with the C5.
