I've been looking online and I can't seem to find many good wheel options for the C5. I was about to pull the trigger on a set of Forgestars until I found out you can't run a squared set up with the deep concave without a lot of poke.
I see a lot of 19in options in our bolt pattern but finding an 18x10 it seems the only choice is a Z06 rear and I can't seem to source those so far (I just posted an ad in the wanted section).
Just curious if anyone can name a brand besides Forgestar or CCW or HRE as I don't want to spend 3k for a set custom made.
Cray and TSW do have some decent looking wheels but I just can't seem to want to put heavier than oem wheels on the car. Makes it more for looks than a mixture of benefits
Got mine (18/19 in C6 rim widths, ZR1 style) from Tire Rack. New wheels, new tires, new TPMS sensors. Totally hassle free - just bolt 'em on and retrain the sensors.
When you find light wheels, post them up.
Unsprung weight is also a concern for me, as it seems the first logical consideration when changing wheels, performance improvement. I guess chicks dig my wheels would also work, but I prefer light weight. I am glad you posted, I had assumed the brands mentioned in this post were s popular because of a performance advantage.
I am looking around for light tires, seems logical to me. A lot of tires mention style as a selling point, and again, I swim against the stream. They are black, and if you have seen one, you have pretty much seen them all, high performance designs have settled down into a common understanding, it's not like they say non skid on the tread now days.
Very true. I just don't want to add 3+ lbs of unsprung weight. Am I an engineer that knows the true ramifications of this? No. But it sounds bad lol
Quite honestly, while reducing unsprung weight is always good, having hefted C5 wheels and tires around quite a bit over the years, + or - a couple pounds won't make an awful lot of difference.
Non RFT tires will be lighter than RFT's. And magnesium wheels are the lightest. I did not get them when I bought my C5 because they were a relatively expensive option. And I had visions of future remorse as and when they got curb rash.....

TSW has 3 or 4 wheels that are rotary forged and lightweight if you like the styles you wont be adding much or any weight.
This is an aftermarket wheel in C5 Z-06 sizes. yes it is heavier than the ugly stock wheels that the 98 came with. For my application they work fine. This wheel is 7 years old and still in real good shape and did not brake the bank
Like others have mentioned some of the TSW wheels are pretty light and affordable.
Save a few bucks and spend it on some performance or suspension upgrades.
