Took a second video outdoors which sounds a bit better. Still not great; best that an iPhone will do. I have a Drift camera that I'll do some work with at some point.
I drove it to the stereo/alarm shop this morning, first time with the windows up.
I was REALLY surprised by how docile it sounds at 1500 with the cruise set at 60-ish. My GF was next to me in her car and she said it's really quiet. It's downright NASTY when you stop on it and the windows are up though. This winter it will likely get a sound deadening kit installed and some other aesthetic upgrades.
The car is doing great! I could not be more pleased with it, and am still stunned every time I drive it by how well it rides. This is the best riding lowered vehicle I have owned, and I expected the opposite. (It's also the one I have the least invested in suspension upgrades.)
In other news:
It's time for a clutch!
1st gear launch spun the tires tonight.
2nd gear shift slipped the clutch.
Dropped it back off at EFI Performance so Steve (TunedbyFrost.com) can install the clutch and hydraulics upgrade. It will not get worked on until next week, so in the corner with the cover on is how she sits for now.
Yep, I guess that clutch was hosed. First two pics are of stock setup with less than 18,000 miles on it and only 500 or so since we bumped up the HP.
Lesson learned: don't listen to folks that say your stock clutch will be fine with engine upgrades. I wish we would have done this with everything else. This was nearly 18 hours of labor in the dealer's time sheet book. I paid actual labor at EFI Peformance and it was quite reasonable now that I see all of these pictures.
This LS7 clutch actually makes the car much, MUCH easier to drive; IMHO even if the car had still be stock.
C7 coupled with Hinson shifter:
I can't WAIT to stand on this thing a few times.
Stupid break-in period!
It now has Ronal wheels and I removed the black halo. I took Dad’s Corvette to a cruise-in/meet tonight; and snagged this cool pic walking out of Chick-Fil-A. I just finished eating dinner, sitting on the curb next to his old ride. It still has his toothpicks and a comb in it; just like all of his cars. I sure do miss him; and am thankful he passed on his love of motorsports to me.
