I''m just looking for a quick answer.I have a 98 vette with the key fob part#10253839-fcc# AB00216T with passive switch. Can I use a different part # for a 97-99 with the same fcc AB00216T without the passive slider and it work correctly to lock and unlock the doors and hatchback. Help will be appreciated as always-DBHVette

You can use a remote from a 2000. It programs the same to your car and has no passive feature. Check with Cultrag (Gene Culley), I know they did have the fobs. They are $95. Here's a link:

Having trouble accessing the web site for the owner's manuals. It says Forbidden, you don't have permission to access the site on this server. Any other link to owner's manuals?

I have the original owners manual in the car and a copy on my computer.I appreciate the quick answers from everybody. This is definitely one of the best places for answers. I'm going to e-mail cultrag now and see what they say about price and to make sure it''s usable before I buy. Thanks again very much. DBHVette

It's definitely usable. Look at the page I linked you to. On the bottom left it says, "also for 98-99". It just won't have the passive switch. This is a replacement for those, the passive slides are no longer available new.

Before spending that much consider getting their update kit. The receivers on the early cars go bad too. The TPMS sensors are much less expensive as are the newer remotes. The swap is easy other than you need to go to a tire store for the tire sensors. I did mine when I got new wheels and tires. I bought some of the last of the old remotes new and sold those here on the forum when I changed mine. I do have a working receiver for a 98 if anyone needs it. But the 2001 up remotes were used on most GM cars for years and are easy to come by. And repair parts are easy to get for them on Ebay. I have rebuilt the main one for my truck several times for less than 1 new one would cost. It is the same except no trunk button. It will program to the car though.

I did the later style upgrade too.

I also had an '03 pickup that the remote programmed to the car also (minus the trunk button). The remotes also interchange with my '03 Buick.

I also bought remotes from the auction site for 2 for $12 that programmed fine and have been working for 2 or 3 years now. They are really inexpensive.

Yeah if you need 2 remotes it's a no brainier. Plus the TPMS sensors are so costly for the old style.

Link worked fine for me as well. Since I do IT work, I tried in all 3 main browsers. IE, Chrome and Firefox and it worked perfectly in each one.

Can you go to this link?
http://www.1997-2004corvettes.com/
If so, can you then go to the C5 Manuals link? Just curious. I did some research on the 403 error and it could be a problem with their site.

That site doesn't work for me either. I am curious as to why.

It is just curiosity though since I already have all of the downloaded C5 manuals.
