[Z06] overfilling engine oil

overfilling engine oil

I just changed the engine oil an I'm over the 'cross hatch' section on the dipstick about a half inch. Should I drain some of it or is it safe to run it this way?

Perfectly fine. If you track your car the manual states to add 1 quart of oil. I did this for several years and never drained it afterwards so I was always running 7-7.5 quarts of oil on the street with no issues.

Many others have done this as well.

Drive it like you stole it and the extra oil will be gone-

I agree drive it hard and tell your self " I'm doing this to get rid of that excess oil" lol. No your all good man completely safe but it's good you asked as in some motors say a motorcycle this can cause increased pressure and cause some damage
