It work's with jacks with the screw on saddle which seems to be most of them now, link below has good info and pictures of this setup and you can place the jack stands under the lifting beam
I am pretty sure I read that you should never jack the rear in the center as shown in the video as bending is a big concern. It seems like most make a wooden fixture out of 3 boards to put the pressure evenly on the ends of the cradle. Ebay even sells a steel version that is made just for that job but a little pricey.
It fits a standard jack, and you can use it in the back end of your C5 no trouble?
Looks good if it works!

Not sure, I got the link from this site on how to jack a vette up
Not 100 sure what that is. Well it be easy to see if I get under the back of the car. Might back it onto my ramps first to take a look at the frame and Jack points if I can.
Pics would be great!
Thanks all for the advice! !!
Excited to start working on this one.
Also it is very important that you use wheel chocks behind both front tires to prevent the car from rolling while you jack the rear up. I suggest using aluminum pucks with rubber non slip casings. The hockey pucks crush unevenly and may cause contact with the body panels.

.....From the above diagram of jacking points, the center of the cross beam is not one of them. So you might be jacking it incorrectly.
Makes you wonder exactly how strong the front and rear cradles are!
In the article that is attached, to the CF topic that is attached, a few posts up, they show a fixture that sits on a floor jack, and spans the cradle, lifting the car at the a-arm mounting points. Yes, that's a nice fixture, but A) I would say it's probably expensive, and B) unless the car is already on ramps, I highly doubt you could be able to run the jack under the car, with the fixture in place. With my car, I can't really get a jack under it, if it's not on ramps.....
Lifting beam is 39.95 at Harbor Freight had a 25% off so it ended up 29.95, looks like the one in the Corvette Forum Vette lifting how to
That's a LOT less that I thought it would be, HOWEVER, every lift beam I saw, when I did a Google search, yesterday, had marginal reviews, at best.....
For the money I thought I'd give it a try, at the worst I can use them on other stuff I own, seemed like a better way to do it than a piece of wood though I'm sure that would work also

Here's what looks like the best ones from Smith Fabrication, but they are a bit pricey.
These pics are kinda how I do it. My Jack and jack stands are not as fancy as these pics. Mine are Harbor Freight specials and I dont put a board along the cross members. I first drive car onto 2 x 6 boards to get clearance for my jack. Then jack from center of front and rear cross members. Place jack stands near ends of cross members like in the pics. Front
