So my wife bought a new C7. The dealer tried to give her $2500 for our C5. I decided to keep it for a fifth car. (Don't ask) Anyways, I drove it to work yesterday. (I work 400 miles from home) The pax side window will jump out on the little plastic bump and make wind noise and rattle. It does this when you slam the drivers door or the hatch. It sometimes goes out when you pass a truck.
My wife use to bitch about this, but I never noticed till now. (Hardly drive the car.) I did a search and found a tip adjustment. Is that the only fix?
the window regulator sits in a grommet at the bottom of the door it slides up the regulator out of the anchor at the bottom of the door, don't know if it would cause your problem but it's common !! if you grab the window with the door open it will rattle if this is the grommet issue ???

If the window has a slight wobble to it there is a adjustment nut behind the reflector in the interior door panel. Just carefully pry reflector out and tighten nut until window no longer shakes.
I work two weeks on / two weeks off. So 800 miles a month. I have changed the regulators on both windows in the past. I don't recall taking off the reflector. Does it just come off with the door card? I will investigate. Of course, here at work I don't have much for tools. Sure would like to fix this before going home.
Today I did some work on the Vette and I took a new look at the window. It has been out side the "catch", it has ground it down. I'm talking about the little plastic nub in the center of the top.
I adjusted the "tip in" to no avail.
I cut a small piece of inner tube rubber and put it at the nub and closed the door. This held the window pretty good. I was able to slam the driver's door and the hatch and the window didn't budge. I drove a 15 mile trip up to 70 mph and it stayed put. This is of course no perminent fix, but I have a 700 mile trip coming next week and I dreaded the noise of the window squeeking all the way. I just can't open that door or the rubber falls out.
Is there a way to replace the little nub? I didn't see any way to take the top apart. What about cutting it right off? I don't think it is doing anything good at this point. Maybe I could build it up with epoxie.

That "nub" that you are mentioning at the top of the window in the top side window seal is the "blow out clip". Two door coupe vehicles that have frame-less doors like the C5 Corvette have them in place as their intended purpose is to prevent the window from pushing outwards at high speed.
I would not remove the blow out clip and in fact suggest it be replaced if damaged. Unlike the index'ed doors on C6s, the C5 uses a combination of the upper door seal and blow out clip to justify the door's position when closed.
If it has rubbed against it and subsequently damaged it then that is likely because the position of the door/window have been off for some time. If your door window is still not making full contact with the top side of the car against the roof then it means there is still tip in adjust. If tip in adjustment has been performed to full and it;s beginning to break the seal along the lower portion of the window when closed then there might be some door sag. It again could also point to a need for you to replace window seal components, including the blow out clip.

I do remember replacing the door hinge awhile back and the regulator a couple times. So it may have gotten worn down then. But the door and window seem to fit nicly now. The rubber looks and feels good and it doesn't leak unless it's in a down pour. (Car wash) Is that clip replaceable?
If memory serves me correct GM has discontinued the C5 blow out clips some time ago and they can only be acquired used. GM went with index'ed doors on the C6 and C7. Indexing is when the windows roll down ever so slightly when opened to then roll up slightly upon closure to create a tighter seal along the top window seal. It usually provides a better seal than the classic blow out clip setup.

Yea, my wife's C7 is like that. Makes you wonder if it hiccups, you'll brake the glass. LOL. I just looked "blow out clip" on the bay. 30 bucks for a quarter sized piece of plastic. But I guess I'll pay it, if I can get it apart.
So I bought the overpriced clip and put it on. The window still pops out sometimes. Anybody bend or shim those clips? I think it needs to be 1/8" lower. Shimming it would probably make the rubber not sit right. I guess I'll try bending it unless you guys got another idea.
