I keep a handful of these business cards in my glovebox. It won't make bad parkers any better, but it makes me feel better knowing I was able to let them know what idiots they are.
...and I have some that are much more profane for the real idiots.
I can park in the no man's land of a parking lot and more than a few times find a rusted out pick up parked next to the Vet. Just the two of us in no man's land.
Over the years I've come to realize that people who do these things fall into one of three categories. They are: #1 Just truly clueless and ignorant, #2 In the I'm the only one that counts group, and #3 which has those that know exactly what they are doing and are making some kind of statement because of whatever and are trying to inflict some kind of pain or aggravation or damage upon you. While it may sound somewhat juvenile, those that fall into category 3 require some special attention for two reasons, which are: #1 to visit the same or more discomfort on them as they did to you so that they realize they can't screw with people with impunity, and #2 to make them think twice when the next opportunity to mess with some innocent person presents itself. Of course I've only heard of the aforementioned and would never act out on this!!! heh heh heh!
I would wager that these were women drivers in both SUV situations discussed in this thread. Usually in a hurry shuttling kids around or running errands and completely oblivious to their ways.
They have no care about nice vehicles (those they are parking next to or their own). The OP's situation was simply an oversized vehicle in a compact space. Chances are the driver was alone, failed to read (or didn't care) because they were late or in a hurry, and was oblivious to the proximity of the next vehicle.
I really like the business card idea. No physical harm done to other's property, but makes you feel like you got it off your chest. I'd only wish I could be around to see their expression when they read it.
I always park in what I call Waycross (waaaay across over yonder), but came out of Home Depot one day to find someone had parked next to me. It turned out that the driver was a woman who said she liked her car and knew that the driver of the Corvette definitely wouldn't cause any damage to hers. Needless to say, not an expected response.
I keep a stack of these printed out on permanent adhesive paper in the car just for these situations. I stick one to the drivers windshield right in their view. No permanent damage, just an inconvenience.

The window valet is a useful tool in such a situation. If you lower the window it is much easier to get in when parked very close. A Swiss Army pen knife can easily puncture the tire bead next to the rim, making the tire flat and unrepairable. I personally have never done this myself but someone told me about this. My luck the person would be coming back as I was doing it. I just get in my car and drive away happy at least my car didn't get scratched up. Actually I have to say this is a very rare occurrence here in New Jersey where I live. I can't remember the last time this ever happened to me and I drive my car quite a bit. People must be lazy, too. Because if I park far away, nobody wants to walk that far.
Glad you didn't receive any dings or scratches. This kinda stuff never fails when you think you have a "safe" parking spot.
This happened to me a few months back. I stayed surprisingly calm considering how intentional it looked.
Unfortunately people like this consider a car as a transportation appliance to get from point "A" to "B" and probably are in the majority,
as such do not understand or appreciate fine automobiles or people that do appreciate them.
