I was wondering if anyone could recommend a balancer that's not a under drive pulley. I'd like to keep it stock without using the crappy GM pulley. Thanks in advance.
I am going through this right now. I rebuilt my 2001 engine in May of 2015.
The PO had replaced the balancer on the car with a new AC Delco part.
I thought I would just be sure and replace it with a new part while it was off for the piece of mind.
Less than 5000 miles later belt squeaking and balancer wobbling. This was a brand new AC Delco part. Bolt is still tight so no problem with it coming loose.
I just received a new Powerbond OEM Replacement unit today. There is so much difference in the quality visually, I would never use a OEM Delco balancer on this engine again.
The Chevrolet dealer where I purchased it from offered to replace it with a new AC Delco under warranty.
For the price the Powerbond seems to be a quality OEM replacement.
This is just my humble opinion. Good luck with yours.
