Thanks guys, it's just that I've personally known one guy who's starter was "BAKED" , and have read a few posts in other on-line sites where peep's starters were also fried after headers installations.
Thought "A little over-kill" in the protection dept. couldn't hurt.

You must be referring to me Art ? Starter has been replaced and a wrap installed, it uses Velcro. The new headers also toasted two plug wires so replaced them all with a set of Taylor's. Car starts and runs like new now.

I have 1 3/4 ARH long tubes with air fittings in headers on my 02 zo6 and I had the headers jet hot ceramic coated and did nothing with starter for heat, but I did put one of those spark plug boots on the wire harness going to the starter. I haven't had any issues with the starter, or spark plug wires and clearance on the tubes, have had them on for about 10k miles, also when hooking up the air system there was no need to cut, bend, or otherwise modify the air pipes. But have heard of these issues with other header systems. I know ARH is at the top of the cost curve for c5 headers but the fit, function, finish, and no hassle install was worth the extra cost to me. Maybe with larger tubes like 1 7/8 or 2" would change that but 1 3/4" tubes is all that's necessary for a NA 346 cu in.

I, too, had my headers Jet Hot coated. I booted the plug wires, but not the starter wires. My headers were XS Power. They've been installed for ~12,000 miles with no troubles.

jethot coating for the headers, thermotec "cool it" heat barrier wrap for the starter... I used the kind with an adhesive backing and cut it out tk fit the body of my starter and it has been working great so far
