When GM was developing the 405hp Z06, it made about 2 engine hp but saved over 16lbs. Other than a straight through exhaust, you are not going to make more HP over a stock Z06 and then it is only 2 or 3. If you look at the advertising for exhaust claims, they all include a tune and muffler change. The real question is: Did they de-tune before the comparison? Your aftermarket cat backs are for a desired sound.
Is the stock zo6 exhaust an improvement over the base coupe or are they the same? Thanks
Lighter and louder, but not a huge amount. Some, not most, are disappointed after installing the Ti's in a base model as the LS1 won't be as loud as a Z06 LS6 with the same exhaust (bigger cam and/or higher compression = more noise).
Was talking to corvette specialties in Vancouver for around $4000.00 the can put a Billy Boat exhaust headers to tail pipes with a tune 100 hp gain thoughts? Thanks
So now everyone knows, stay away from that place lol
Start with a stock Z06 TI exhaust and then see if its what you like. I have Borla straight pipes but and swapping to the SLP Loudmouth soon. All depends if you are or going to do headers helps in the big picture. If you can find anyone local I prefer that kind of comparison over youtube videos. Find a club, jump on c5 corvettes, or Z06owners on Facebook and you might hook up with someone locally too. Hope that helps.
So I have flowmaster tips factory welded not added on, black mufflers, flowmaster says all their mufflers are stamped, maybe the top side is stamped????

Post a picture, lots of people here who will likely recognize the brand.
And, well... Mary Anne.
I agree with nsogiba above.. And they look better too.
I have Z06 axle back, Hall intake and a full ECS street tune on my base coupe.Idle sound resembles my Z06, tho it's a drop tamer under full throttle. It's truly in the ear of the beholder.
That $4000 price seems very high.
BB PRt by part is the best exhaust. ITs a by mode style with a strait pipe and a muffler. Quite at idle and a beast a WOT. Also has some of the best HP improvements do to the Straight pipe design
I first tried C5 Z06, but they weren't aggressive enough.
I bought a slightly used set of Billy Boat Bullets, but they were too loud for me and droned at crusing and highway speeds. They made a noticeable difference in HP and how much the hood raised during WOT but I don't have any numbers.
The Bullets should only be used on manual Vettes, imo. When the A4 shifts with normal driving, the exhaust note sounds like something dying...
I started listening to other's exhaust setups at cruise-ins and car shows. I found owners were eager to show off their exhaust and give me an audition.
I finally went slightly off the reservation, using a Z06 H pipe from the manifolds (eliminating the pup cats) and welding in a Bassani X pipe. I used a Corsa Indy Pace Car cat back system. I am extremely happy with the result. I saw a little mpg increase, slight to no drone at crushing/highway speeds. The WOT is more than enough music to satisfy. They do gurgle and will sometimes pop during engine braking (like going down a long hill w no gas pedal) but I really like that!
I think mid-America had a bunch of sound clips on their sites to compare, but the sound is better examined live.
Oh, and Mary Ann rocked!
