I have C6 wheels with TPMS in them on my C5.
The system does not recognize the signal.
I have to clear my DIC often.
I have the original tires and over the weekend I took the valves out of all the tires so I could cut the tires to get the original sensors out and swap when I get new tires soon.
The C5 tires were about three feet from the car over the week end and when I go to drive it Tuesday the check engine light is on and the DIC says RR Flat, RF Flat, active handling not operating.
I have not pulled the codes yet but does anyone think that the system has picked up the original sensors?

I just answered your question with my opinion...It seems possible...
I did not suggest using OLD sensors BAD idea...
I agree with buying 4 new sensors. Make sure you buy either original AC Delco or Schrader TPM sensors. Schrader is the manufacturer of the AC Delco TPM sensors. Do not buy aftermarket sensors.
If the old tires have been sitting undisturbed for the past few years, they went to sleep and did not cause any interference with your RFA.
When you took the valves out and cut holes in the tires over the weekend, you very likely "woke them up" and they transmitted zero air pressure to your RFA which gave you the message on your DIC.
