I am not a fan of power tools when there is no way back from a mistake. It's not like you are plowing the north forty acres . Of course, if you have the experience, the learning curve is behind you .
For myself I would be very disappointed if I learned my clear-coat, since I bought the car used, is not as expected and I learned something with my new power tool. With hand work, a rookie has a better chance . Ir's not like you're going to get all worn out working a paint chip.
I would suggest you simply trim the brush to match the work instead of using another method that might not control the paint as well. Pin stripers use a razor blade to custom shape every new brush. Often people will construct a paint brush made from a single eyelash , for fine detail painting . Unless you are a house painter, you might consider if the brush is optimized for best results, although I am a big fan of toothpicks as useful tools .
Obviously, this is not a big deal with such a small area, but when guys start blobing paint or looking for scraps as a paint carrier , there are other ways. Not always better, to be clear, but certainly not an inferior choice, if used correctly.
