I was going to post this in the tech section but I thought I might get more feedback (or crap,LOL) in the General section. I posted more than a year ago that at this certain overpass/on-off ramps my oil pressure goes to zero, I am first alerted by the DIC with the warning low oil pressure with the dinging, then look to see my gauge on zero. By this time I am past the ramps and everything goes back to normal. This would happen very few times (twice a summer maybe) now the last 7 out of 8 times it happens, only at this particular spot ??? I had relocated the sender when I installed my LS 6 intake two winters ago. Very Very strange, another note is, if I have my Radar detector on it always goes crazy at this spot ????
Perhaps some type of high frequency signal in that area? There is a tiny printed circuit board in the OPS. Never cut one open but it may have some component(s) that could be interfered with by such a signal.
Does the radio or any other electronics have problems or just the OPS and the radar detector?
If it's worth the $40 to you to try a replacement, do it. Not certain a replacement will act any differently.
Are you going around a curve? Maybe the angle the sender is mounted at is causing it? Just my thought.
very slight curve, but only this spot ???? as 8VETTE7 suggested it could have something to do with the circuit board in the sender, Corvette 73 had the same idea when I posted before ???

That's weird. I guess if it was a curve it'd do it other places. Maybe avoid that certain area for awhile and see if keeps happening. Either way good luck with getting to the bottom of it.

It is strange that it only happens in that one spot.

Try taking the "ramps" at a MUCH slower speed (screw the people behind you, they'll get over it) and see if there is any difference.
If none, then the only logical explanation is you have entered an alien life-force zone.

I'm not taking the ramps but going under that overpass, it was mentioned in my earlier thread about the alien zone, it's the strangest car problem I have seen ??? Some company in that area must be using some machine that's has a frequency that affects the sender, but why just that and the radar detector ??? For what it's worth there is a dump site for trash just off the exit, I don't know how people in that area can stand the smell ??? Now I wonder if the hotter temps we have been having have anything to do with it ??? (been in the 90's)
I would try to make sure this is an electrical issue and not an real oil pickup problem. If you feel its just a sensor issue, change it than everything else in the circuit chain. You can try using a heat gun/hairdryer while parked it it's heat related. Also try shaking the harness and the sensor maybe its a bad connection or ground problem. Good luck.

Or temporarily wrap a couple pieces of aluminum foil around the sensor and it's fittings. Not some tiny thing, make a "tent" and make sure it's grounded. Think Faraday Cage.

it only happens in this one spot and trust me I drive everywhere !!! It didn't concern me when it was once in a great while but 7 out of 8 has me thinking about it more. the engine makes no noise and it last seconds at 78 mph ?????

Corvette73 suggested the same thing. (that is scary)

Make sure your "cage" is grounded. You could use a little 8" - 10" test lead that has a small alligator clip on each end. One end to the foil and the other to a known ground.
Optional: driving at precisely 88 mph when entering/exiting the overpass.
Not to start anything but some time you have a stronger magnetic field in some areas, weather is something underground or high power lines or cell towers. Maybe there is something not obvious to you that makes your electronics go bananas pounder.
Sometimes we drive by some areas all the time without noticing new things or old things for that matter.
Maybe you found a new vortex in you neck of the woods !!! Good luck with your tests hope you can figured it out sir...

I had a similar issue with my old motorcycle, which I used as a DD. At one spot on the way home the speedometer and tach would flutter and then shoot up towards redline and top speed.

when driving down the road and all of a sudden you hear, ding, ding, ding and what the hell is that and you look at the DIC and then the gauge-----OH CRAP !!!!! your ready to hit the key and everything back to normal ???? and you look in the rear view mirror and you have these antennea coming out of your head, then it's OH Double Crap

well that's what happens when you bury the speedometer so you never figured it out or didn't care ????
