Default C5 TPMS Conversion

Okay, so...my '98 is starting to show her age, especially now that I'm driving her more and more. I figure who the hell was I saving this car for anyway?! She'll make some young fella a nice fixer upper someday. Anyways, the TPMSensors began to fail in a cascade type fashion and before you knew it all of them failed. Luckily it was getting close to new tire time and I just waited until I had gotten the last safe mile outta those shoes before tackling the whole issue.
Sure enough I turned here to the forum and found the C5 TPMS Conversion kit from...

Default '97-'00 Corvette TPMS To '01-'04 TPMS Conversions Available @ CULTRAG Performance!

I ordered the kit, then four new B.F. Goodrich skins...and while I was there I figured new brakes and rotors would be fun, and since it was up on stands I thought why not change those rear axles...so, I put it back on the ground and having a bit of the day left I thought I would go ahead and have a whack at replacing the TPMS receiver.
You know how these things never really seem to go the way you think they will when you get started? Yeah, it was kinda like that. I had a couple hours free time and it didn't seem like a big job...and actually replacing the parts wasn't. Getting the bugs out of it was another story. I had it all back together and was eager to program the new fobs and the pressure sensors but when I got the part where the DIC was asking for the lock & unlock...I got nothing. By this time my time was running out. In preparation I had policed up wiring diagrams and tips and hints from you fellas and made the most juvenile mistake. I tried to cut corners. I wired that hummer up without even taking my volt meter out of the tool box! You should take this a sign of trust and humility that I am even sharing this with you...and I wouldn't except for a guy I've never met, but only talked with on the phone a time or two. You see, Bill Curlee, is a Corvette GURU! Before I mentioned how my girl was showing her age, and last year her BCM failed. Not all at once but slowly over time. The kind of thing that will make you pull your hair out (if for us older fellas, we had any left!)! I reached out Bill last year and he was kind enough to share his phone number and then his time with a total stranger, but a fellow Corvette enthusiast. He had the knowledge and the experience as well as the insight to get me rolling last year, and he did again just a couple of days ago.
I called Bill out of the blue and he took my call and was gracious to a fault! It didn't take long into the conversation when he reminded me of what I should have known..."Do you have a meter?", he asked...DOH! "Have you checked your fuses?" "Uh, no". I was and am so embarrassed! Sure enough I found a blown fuse, #27. I'm not sure I blew that fuse, the HVAC is on that circuit and with out that fuse it was dark non functioning. I couldn't figure that when I put it back together because the air had been working. I knew something I had done caused the air to quit and frankly I was more concerned about that than the tire sensors! With Bill,s patience and encouragement I found the fault, reprogrammed the fobs, relearned the sensors (be sure to have a fairly strong magnet available) and was rolling again with all systems nominal!
Thanks again, Bill!you

I installed the kit also, thought it to be a bit pricey but two summers and a lot of miles later it is great to have that system working as it should. New key FOBs is also nice !!!! I think you you work on cars to any extent you will have the blown fuse syndrome happen to the best of us !!! Ya Bill
