Only if I wanted that car. I don't like them so not even a chance. The last thing I'd do would be to trade a car I'm selling for not much in my pocket, and be stuck with something I don't want or need.
I like the looks of the XLR. I enjoy a convertible and I think a hardtop vert would be the best of both worlds. That's why I was interested.
However in the end I would be trading to just try and sell again.
It would be a big change from 600+ engine horsepower to 320 of the northstar......Pretty much decided no trade..I have made another for sale thread. the other was too long / jumbled up.

It is a shame they put the Northstar in the XLR. Other than that it would be a very nice car and something I would like to own.
BUT, I will not have another Northstar. That is a deal breaker for me. Too many problems, and severe ones. A common issue is a head gasket problem, but it only appears to be the head gasket. The block is not strong enough for the head bolts and after a few years of corrosion the bolts loose tension and a blown head gasket is the result. Replacing a head gasket wouldn't be so bad, but there is no fix for the damage/weak block, so expect it to fail again or spend $4k or $5k on a new engine. There is one company that puts an oversize threaded stud into the block and has had some success, but that is expensive too.
I won't get another Northstar because I had one in a 2000 STS that had the problem described above. My brother in law had the same problem in his Cadillac too.
Power isn't everything, and wouldn't save that car for me (nor do any of those mods). The top one doesn't look too bad, but they are far too square and jagged for my taste. Kinda agree with the lipstick on a pig comment...
I really like XLR's and almost bought one until I drove it. It was not better than my 2012 CTS-4 V6 coupe. I would NOT trade a C5 for one unless maybe it was an XLR-V. But I have not driven a V to know for sure. Either way, a base XLR for a C5, no way.
