Default Would you trade?

I have an offer to trade my 99 C5 FRC for this 05 XLR and $4,000 cash my way.

How is the market for these XLR's?

see link below to my add and also to XLR add

I'm getting rid of the Vette one way or another. I have another toy. I'm just wondering how these XLRs sell. Private partly value looks to be 17500ish.

The XLR is pretty damn nice, but they are niche for sure. It's a C5 with slightly nicer interior and slightly crappier seats.

Personally no I would not trade. Don't like the XLRs style at all and looks like a downgrade if the value is 17,500. And only going lower I would suspect. Lots of miles on it and very specific target audience.

Based on your FRC ad, you've been trying to sell for awhile now. I would rather come down on the price of the FRC some to see if the market comes around to it rather than trade to a car with even less potential to sell IMO.

If the main reason is getting rid of your car, I'd consider it......

That's with 4 or 5 grand cash in your pocket.....

If you don't like the XLR and have no plans to drive it, I wouldn't do it....

You might have the same hard time selling the XLR....

It's going to come down to how long you want to wait for the right buyer in the end....

Good luck....

Oh I caught that. So you're figuring this is an even trade then? My point is, if they have to pay you money now to get an EVEN trade, then what are you going to get for that XLR down the road? The cash on top doesn't change the base value of the vehicle.

I'd immediately put car up for sale. But probably drive it a few times on weekend.

Book value is higher on xlr than my 99. I was thinking it might be an easier sell.

I don't see many XLRs on road or for sale. That's why I was wondering what the market was like for them.

As mentioned XLR is a niche market, and as such resale is limited to that market. If they had been produced with an LS engine instead of the Northstar they would have a better audience.

What do you do,now with the 99? If it is an occasional driver the trade you state is like getting $21,500 for your 99. That's not shabby by any means and you aren't going to get that anywhere else.

If I had another toy and room for the car I would do it. Knowing in advance that I will live with the XLR.

Personally, I would do it. I think the XLR is cool looking. The only hesitation I would have would be the Northstar engine. I have heard mixed reviews on that one.

The FRC gets driven maybe once per month. I've lost interest in it since I got the 69 Camaro. My wife however would live the XLR. I might have a hard time prying it away from her. Lol

I like all things different and that includes the XLR. I have a friend who has one and loves it. I would never trade my C 5 for one, but I am talking driving them !!!!

Do NOT trade that car for the XLR for God's sake.... Just sell outright. The 1st Gen Camaro is awesome!! Nice find!!!

If you don't want the XLR and want out of your car, you could get it appraised by carmax or another local dealer and ask for the difference in cash from the owner. Doubt they'd go for it, but it would be a way to at least make the XLR owner leave you alone
