Style wise I don't think the c4 or c6 was an improvement.

BTW, is there any love left for the C5? It seems like posting anything up for discussion on a C5 gets lots of hate lately.

My original post was simply a question on how much a custom C5 could have been built if one used the money spent on a C7?

There are some members who find no want or desire for a C7 and yet continue to build up C5's performance and visuals.

Maybe the C5 owners have simply just died off and now the C5 section has become a C7 love fest.

Personally, I love my C5. I also like a C7, but can't help but think what I could do to my C5 with that kind of money spent on the C7.

Nothing wrong here folks....quit feeling the butt hurt and or personal insults, enjoy what you got.

I really like my C5Z, owned since new. I have added some bits and pieces here and there to make it mine. If I had any complaint about the car it is the interior, dated now maybe it was when new. There are some spectacular looking modified C5's and it has always struck me that those cars had an owner with vision, in the end it call came together in a really nice package.

I like the look of the C7, for me colour has a huge impact on how the car looks, never driven one and can't afford one so I remain happy with what I have.

I did love my C3's back then and still do despite their inferior performance as compared to the C5-C7 generation Corvettes, basically the same chasis structure. I would love to have a '70-'72 Ontario Orange Convertible Resto-mod with Saddle leather interior and a White top.
Hi! My '71 454 4spd was ontario orange w/saddle. Its really a beautiful color, my all time favorite of all vette colors and just perfectly complimentary to the C3 body style, in my humble opinion of course. I still suffer sellers regret whenever I think of that car. Best wishes and have a good one!

Agree except for a C6 Z06 or ZR1 wide body. The fender flares and bigger wheels and rubber and front grill just made it, now that's what I am talking about. Thousands expressed the same. Funny how the C6's are dropping like crazy in value, C5 Z06's are holding better. With every man and his dog snapping up C7's of every flavor that's what's most likely causing the depreciation. Great for people that want clean C6 Z's. Heck you can even find some low mile 09 ZR1's for 58K!!

Base C6's looks pedestrian IMHO. Don't care for guys that mod their cars exterior wise except rims. Factory exterior parts or it just makes a Corvette look cheap and tacky. Like ricer kids and their exterior glue on fascias etc. Again JMHO. Saying that if I was rich I would throw in a C6 GS vert. and blow it. Probably a C7 Z06 vert as well. Automatic is fine. I have been shifting for too many years. Have a bad left knee.

Wow, that was a lot of words just to make yourself sound stupid.

Truth is the thread was on th site's main page, and I clicked on it to read what someone thinks when they see a C7, otherwise, and please believe me when I tell you, I have zero interest in any C5 and wouldn't have come to this section ever.

The only reason I made any comment at all was because the OP's premise for the thread was sarcastic and idiotic.

Try rereading his initial post about throwing away money on the C7's. Please.

Yeah that looks nice! Have seen those before. I too came here as this was the number 1 trending topic on the main Corvette Forum page. Other wise I would have never been here!

Geez! Seems to be getting awful hot in here. Not that it matters as the world turns and I doubt that it'll matter to anyone much, but its time for me to quit visiting this thread. I'll look forward to other posts and great info that usually makes this forum so terrific. Everyone take care and be well!

Sad isn't it? I usually admire the new C7's however it's looking like some of them think their crap doesn't stink and they have the end all and be all of Corvettes.

I've actually seen some stock C7 owners get pissed at carshows because they didn't place...honestly there are custom Corvettes of all generations are better than the stock C7's no matter how much sticker they paid, and quite honestly that's the rub isn't it?

If I had the C7 I would probably........wait a minute that's never gonna happen as long as I have mine.

Like I said I have BOTH...so I can say whatever I want freely towards both cars. Your original question makes NO sense, WHO is going to be dumb enough to spend 60k+ on modding a C5 PLUS whatever you paid for the car. The dollars don't make sense!!

Their isn't enough "good" mods to make on a C5 for that kinda coin..... Whether you think a C7 or C5 looks good or not is not even a factor here. Just $$$

Are you nuts? What someone does with their money is their choice. If you intend to use financial reasoning when buying a C7 and watching it burn up cash in depreciation makes your argument sound laughable.

Yes I spend lots of useless cash on my car making it what I want. I will never see a return on investment. BUT I will smile at you as I motor by in my paid off C5. And probably spend more money on it too!

This is why I don't drive one, I like my c5, but I know the c7 is a better car, that I can't afford.

You taking it way out of content. First you're assuming both my cars are not mine or paid for... don't assume!

Second I NEVER said it was not your choice I said it doesn't make sense to spend that kind of cash on it IMO, period. You can disagree as you just did...free country. I have 4 cars so I know all about burning cash.

I will smile as I alternate between the two based on my mood. Happy cruising!

The best part? He assumes everyone is "butt hurt" (his words) or jealous of him if they don't agree with his every word. It must be nice to be that ignorant, but I suppose ignorance is also bliss in some cases. I still think this thread was trollish from the start, even though it was started by an "established" member, which seems to matter for some reason.

The weirdest trend in this thread is the amount of people who seem to think it's not ok to like both the C5 and C7, or any other car for that matter. Are people really crazy enough to think the C5 is the best car ever made? Yes, it has a lot going for it and is a great value, but come on
