The MCM hood is probably the creme of the crop, and JETZ car is in a couple Corvette picture folders on my desktop I love your car man! But what did that hood cost you? Last one I saw available was $1800, then the custom paint had to be at least another $500+ on top of that. The Trackspec vents are like 15% of that price, and that's not even factoring in labor.

Personally I would take that $2K and spend it on heads, or a 3.73 stage-4 RPM diff, but I'm also particular to the race car look (big Lemans fan here), and almost all the serious competitive C5's use the Trackspec vents.

Opinion, opinion, opinion hahah! I definitely go against the grain for most Corvette folk Everything I do to my car is function over form, and the vent panels offered much needed cooling, and reduced a LOT of lift at speeds above 150, for (comparatively) dirt cheap.

Erik, I think you did a great job with your car with not a lot of $$$ into it. Especially like the blacked-out look you did with PD. There is a badazz C7 that drives around where I work that yours reminds me of.

Some of us Corvette owners do not need the "bling" factor. I have the Trackspec vent in my stock hood and it does exactly what the high dollar hoods do. You are mainly paying for the weight savings on the carbon hoods. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the high dollar hoods. I have not heard of anybody having problems in the rain with the Trackspec vents either.

How is the fitment of this hood?
the fitment is good if you use the factory hood latches and mounting points, but my hood completely comes off like a race car would, so i use a 4 hood pins to have it on, its very hard to align this way, but when i had used the factory mounts it was very good

dont be quick to assume stuff my friend, my hood fits fine when i used the factory mounting points, ( latches etc... )

i use 4 hood pins to keep this thing on, when i open the hood i have to remove the hood completely off the car, without a guide its very hard to get 4 holes to match completely perfect, i didnt want to keep drilling holes on the hood or on the car just to get it completely perfect, after its not build for show, but for performance in mind

this is why I was wanting to install one of these vents to see if it would help but I've ran my car over 170 plenty of times and it feels solid, I haven't been able to feel any noticeable lift... or maybe it's there and I don't know how it would feel if the hood were vented... how flush does yours fit around the contours of the hood?... I was concerned with it leaving gaps around the edges

It's not too bad, the one on the drivers side is a little popped up because it got hit with a floppy mile marker, after I got run off a freeway onramp by a tractor/trailer but otherwise they fitquite nicely the edges fit tight with minimal fuss.

Ok, some Ferarris, Mercedes, AM, some Porsche etc. I think you know what I meant. Those cars are @ a different price point of course but the owners are still not sticking a big lump on their HOOD so that is all that you notice. not something that blends, flows, and actually enhances the car.

Aftermarket hoods with multiple vents, scoops, louvers, five inches tall, poor fit BUT comes in faux CF for $599...where do I sign?

I'd rather have something that blends, flows, and actually enhances the car.

Went to see the movie at the drive-in, with my girlfriend (now wife), in her C-3.
