Default Velocity Exo LS1 Build

I was fortunate to get a Velocity Exo unfinished, they typically only sell completed cars. I wanted to finish it myself, so I could add my own touches. Jay with Velocity was great to deal with.

Here's a little bit about the car...
LS1 with Porsche 6 speed transaxle, they designed the car around multiple production parts, a lot of the work was already done.

Engine and trans were just sitting in the car, still have to wire everything up and plumb cooling system, finish interior, gauges, fuel system and brakes.

I'm excited! The more time I spend around the car the more impressed I am.

Here are a few pics the night it arrived at my shop....

A couple of their finished cars...

These pics will bring you up to date, not a ton of work, just trying to get the engine cleaned up. Pulled the intake, relocating the coils, installing Holley hi-rise Sniper intake, planning on flipping it.

Mocked up the headers, cleaned up valley pan since it will now be visible and removed coil mounts from valve covers and painted bright red.

Mounted ECM and started routing the engine harness

They are located in Arvada, Colorado I stumbled across one of their cars on the web and gave them a call. The owner is a true car guy and was an absolute pleasure to deal with.

The draw back to me finishing the car, is that I can't drive it yet. It will be worth the effort being able to put some personal touches on it.

Should be wicked fast, I think the finished car only weighs in at a tick over 1,700 lbs, with a C5 power plant and C6 Z06 rubber.

Shifter box and cables are all from a Porsche Boxster, so it should shift real nice. The LS Kennedy adapter is a real nice piece as well.

Got a little more progress made on the Exo, Sniper intake looks killer and seats fit like a glove. Assembled the coil relocation brackets, still trying to decide where to locate them. Pulled water pump, installing a Meziere electric pump and lower alternator bracket and ditching the tensioner.

Here are a few pics of the progress....

Wow, that looks like a blast to drive. I think the best part is the personal touches. Looks like some real nice work going on there.

Thanks for the pictures! Kind of interesting, only the two mounts on the bottom of the engine. I guess if the tranny needs to be dropped and separated you would have to support the engine, or pull them both together?

Thanks! Not sure about the HP, engine will have virtually no parasitic loss from accessories, with free flowing intake and exhaust. Stock should have been around 345HP I would guess it would come in shy of 400HP with mods.

Total weight will be right around 1,700 lbs with C6 Z06 sized Nitto Invos I expect it to be a beast. Should be a little better than C5 Z06 on acceleration, don't know about cornering and don't care about top speed. With it being 1,400 lbs less than a C5 Z06, I image it will feel like a grown up go kart.

Yes you would just pull them both together, the transaxle actually protrudes through the chassis in the rear, pretty easy access...

Haven't updated the thread in a while, but I've been busy wrenching on the Exo. Focus now is on getting it fired up then mocking up the 3" stainless exhaust, most of the wiring is complete only tail lights, fans and water pump.

Brakes are complete just need to install the braided lines and bleed it.

Here are a few pics of the custom coil relocation brackets, I'm pretty pleased with the finished product, not to bad to be cut out with a grinder, just a little time with the angle grinder.

Waiting on some AN fittings to button up the fuel lines and expansion tank to finish plumbing the cooling system.

Here are a few more random pics of the progress...

Had to disassemble the water pump to add the 90 degree elbow to point the outlet in the right direction, the fitting is just a gavenized plumbing elbow that I ground down smooth and painted black.

Still missing the axles, hope to have then in the next couple weeks.
