To much alone time, drove trucks for 34 yrs. acquired a pretty sick sense of humor. Or so I'm told, couldn't imagine 60 yrs. I'd probably be driving around in my underwear too.
well, he doesn't have too many socially redeeming values, makes him a good candidate for OTR I guess. But I've know him since we were 8 so I just put up with them.
Ha, well I guess is does sound like I meant ALL truckers do not have socially redeeming values. What I was trying to say is my friend's social graces (and lack there of) work well with being alone, no interaction with people, so social life. He lives in the truck 365 days a year, has no home, no car, no wife (at the moment, he's had 4)

I was just pulling your chain.i knew what you meant, I just couldn't help my self.
^^^^^^ I can say I have been out of my mind mad at some truck drivers, but I know with all the idiots on the road along with everything else it is a very tough job !!! if I was in a Semi I would would run OVER so many people !!!!
That's what I like about flatbed. Getting loaded and unloaded at cool places instead of warehouse loading docks.
Yeah my truck doesn't have the room of a lot of the newer trucks. If I stayed out for longer periods of time I would want one of those sweet roomier condos also.

Thanks for the thoughtful gesture and kind words, it's sincerely appreciated. Will be finally making my way home next week in time for Christmas and New Year's, and certainly looking forward to having time away from a vehicle with more than two axles, and hooking up with Mom and friends for the holidays. I'm not in any type of committed, physical relationship because I don't think it's fair to put a girlfriend thru my job lifestyle obligations but, whether it's any part of the holidays or the rest of the year it's certainly nice to get calls or messages from friends, male or female asking when I'm coming home and if we can spend time together. It certainly makes my mental focus and tolerance for the long periods of solitude and the job in general a lot easier to deal with knowing I have that kind of response from friends.
Thanks again for the post, and Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Holidays to ALL....

This is me with my previous company's truck, a Western-Star 10-car open rack, taken late this past August. A friend of mine showed up with a camera and took this shot of me indicating "I was ready to fly" and take a break from the road.
