Thanks for the thoughtful gesture and kind words, it's sincerely appreciated. Will be finally making my way home next week in time for Christmas and New Year's, and certainly looking forward to having time away from a vehicle with more than two axles, and hooking up with Mom and friends for the holidays. I'm not in any type of committed, physical relationship because I don't think it's fair to put a girlfriend thru my job lifestyle obligations but, whether it's any part of the holidays or the rest of the year it's certainly nice to get calls or messages from friends, male or female asking when I'm coming home and if we can spend time together. It certainly makes my mental focus and tolerance for the long periods of solitude and the job in general a lot easier to deal with knowing I have that kind of response from friends.
Thanks again for the post, and Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Holidays to ALL....
2015 Peterbilt "Code Blue III" 9-car enclosed. 13-speed auto with Cummins engine. This is what I currently drive daily. Hauling for the rich and famous, and prestigious dealerships. Just finished a Florida trip and delivered one of the Trump limousines to Mar-a-Lago from New York.
This is me with my previous company's truck, a Western-Star 10-car open rack, taken late this past August. A friend of mine showed up with a camera and took this shot of me indicating "I was ready to fly" and take a break from the road.
No thanks necessary, but sincerely appreciated! Merry Christmas and please be well and safe. Take good care!!
Great stuff guys. I used to have a "heavy goods" license as they called them back when I lived in England - I worked for a truck manufacturer as a development engineer, and I was licensed to drive any kind of truck or bus.
These days though, I get to drive I 81 in PA, MD and WV a lot, and frankly, some of your fellow truckers are downright scary - can't tell you how many times I have had to take very rapid evasive action due to sudden lane changes, etc.

Stay safe.....
Unfortunately, I agree. In my opinion, Federal regulations are lowering the quality of drivers behind the wheel.

The point I was making saying they can get me mad, but understanding the time they spend on the road with the amount of idiots they have to deal with !!
The quality of the drivers today. Is that training consists of 26 hrs.federal mandate behind the wheel time.Company's, like swift,England, two name a couple, have their, own schools.and with 3 months of otr. Experience, are allowed to become trainers.
That in itself,is a serious issue,and self explanatory.on top of hand held devices,not paying attention,and I'm a bigger vehicle ego.Along with a "F.CK THEM CARS" attitude.
There no longer a "WHITE NIGHT" considered professionalism, among today's drivers.electronic logs have helped and hurt the industry.without time behind the wheel experience, its only going to get worse.bless you stay safe

One of the big carriers (can't remember which) petitioned the FMCSA to allow new drivers to go out on their own sooner, instead of having a trainer ride along for a longer period of time.

Western star to a peterbilt, little bit of a down grade JMO I know I'm going to hear it on that one
Back a few years I was on a 4 lane city street which came up to a 5 lane city street. the right turn lane had a building really close to the road, so a Semi stayed in the second right lane with his right turn signal on. I was also turning right and pulled in behind him (my signal on also). Before the light turned green a Dude in a VW bug pulled into the right lane, headphones on shaking his head back and forth. I started to laugh the minute the light turned green, the Semi turning right from the second lane give the dumbass no room to go anywhere, surely couldn't see him. The trailer ran right over the top of the bug and driver is bailing out the pass. side. Flattened that bug to the ground took me three blocks to flag him down and tell him what happened. He said "hell I thought I ran over the curb" we both doubled over laughing !

Being cut off like that everyday,it happens all the time. That pic would be a good billboard, instead of all those you see by lawyers 'BEEN INJURED BY A BIG TKUCK'.

I'll take the Peterbilt....It's governed to 75 and the bunk space is a bit bigger, not that it matters much, I was provided a corporate credit card for hotels. "We'd prefer you not to sleep in your truck" is what I was strongly told, and since it doesn't have an APU, I'm perfectly happy with that.
The Western Star was nice, since it was a brand new truck when I got it but, it topped out at 65, and the bunk space is bare minimum. The only thing I like about the Western Star compared to the Pete is the seats. The cloth chairs in the WS are far more comfortable than the leather Peterbilt offers, there's just no comparison. IMO the Pete seats truly suck unless you have a supplement padding or cushion to help. Just my .02.

Yea that was a small sleeper on the WS. Peterbilt is a sexy truck, but there's no room in the cab.
If I have it right, Western Star and Freightliner are both part of Daimler Benz (i.e. Mercedes), which puts D-B as the #1 US truck manufacturer. Mack is owned by Volvo and Pete/Kenworth are part of PACCAR along with DAF in Europe.
And now the other big player, International, may be bought by the VW group. The Donald won't like it........
