I have a friend that has a clear bra installed on the front of his car. Last week he had a minor accident that scuffed the vinyl. The question is, how hard is it to remove and if there was any flex in the paint would the paint pull off while removing it? Thanks in advance for any help...
I can't answer your question directly, but my buddy Rob who owns http://proformauto.com/ definitely can. He's just down outside of Baltimore and worth the drive if your buddy needs it corrected. He put the 3M product on my C5 and several other vehicles for my family.
The trick I found out via Google is to pull with the material to remove it; stretch it, not peel it like a banana. Worked for me when I removed my clear bra. If there's loose paint, sure, it'll probably pull loose paint off...

I removed some clear bra off the front of my C5 back in 2009. Using a hair dryer to soften the adhesive helps, and then I got an edge up and peeled back at about an 45* angle. I did peel it back rather slowly. The main problem I had after getting the film off was the adhesive residue that remained. IIRC, I used some heat (hair dryer again), some rubbing alcohol and some WD-40 to get it off. You could probably use some Goo Gone too.
I'm going to look at it tonight, he said it did do damage to the car he hit so my main worry will be if the nose did flex and the paint lifts. Thanks for the ideas. I have some dx330 to clean the adhesive off. Either way he'll need to get the front fender aligned.
I installed it on my 2001 front bumper and headlight covers several years ago.
I had a small scuff on one of the headlight cover masks and decided to replace the headlight cover masks only last year just to freshen them up. It took me about 6 hours per headlight cover to remove and I tried everything from steam, heat gun, 3M Adhesive Removers you name it - one of the hardest jobs I ever tackled. It completely ruined the left headlight cover - paint was all rippled after removal, so I had to sand it down and repair it. Tho other headlight cover survived. I would like to replace the front bumper bra, but not up to tackling it.
It probably depends on several factors - the brand/type bra installed, surface prep, time on car, exposure to elements, paint condition, etc.?
