2004 c5 with 20,000 miles I installed a hurst shifter and it's rattles in 3rd at 4-5000 rpm and it not that easy to get into gear.
Has only one else had this problem and how was it repaired??
Did you purchase the shifter "new", and if so, did you follow the instructions, with respect to the "stop screws"? Also, did you make sure the "neutral gate" is adjusted properly?
I had the same problem. I called Hurst and they actually told me that's the way they are and there is nothing they can do to fix it, they all do that eventually. So I got rid of it.

Jeff, I was going to say that a friend of mine with a Z06 was unhappy with his! Oh well, you beat me to it!
Real cheap, real easy.
Did it with my B&M ripper shifter and it helped some. Still didn't like the shifter so went with a C6 Z06 shifter in my 98, currently installing a MGW shifter in my 02.
I just had the B&M shifter installed in my Z and I REALLY like it! I have not had experience with other aftermarket shifters and I know it seems like a majority on here prefer the MGW but I have no complaints with the B&M. Shifting is precise and a lot more fun than the stock shifter and the B&M isn't too bad on price ($250) Just my .02
anti-venom mod??? please explain ... I would much rather fix what I have then spend big $ on another shifter
I have to ask, since you didn't seem to respond to my question.....did you follow the set-up instructions, that came with your Hurst? I've installed a few Hurst shifters, over the last 40 years, and will freely state that they have a number of adjustments that A) make them the excellent performers that they are; and B) WILL take a little time to PROPERLY accomplish.
Do yourself a favor have someone tap your factory shifter all the way down to the bulge. Then cut it down to size. You will get the best of both worlds that you get buttery smooth shifts but still is a shorter shift.

That's good advice, but I did that to a C6 Z06 shifter and it is really nice. It works great and I have no need to look for a new shifter.
That c5 mgw piece posted by patches is one sexy piece. I love my b&m to death, it's perfect for me, but I really want to drive a car with an MGW to see what the hype is all about.
I did drive rive a car with a hurst and didn't really like it, as well as the shortened c6 shifter. Neither were what I was looking for in a shifter. The Hinson also shows promise because it's super tight (apparently) and pretty notchy.
