I did drive rive a car with a hurst and didn't really like it, as well as the shortened c6 shifter. Neither were what I was looking for in a shifter. The Hinson also shows promise because it's super tight (apparently) and pretty notchy.
I can appreciate a tight shifter but when it is so tight and notchy that it actually slows your shift down the purpose has been defeated. It is about practicality and purpose. The reason I ditched the hurst was because it was so notchy and tight that you could easily get the incorrect gear when shifting quickly.

Had the flu....
Yes I did follow the instructions and adjustments I have worked on it a couple of times and the last ( just recently) did improve the action
Thanks for your help and the time it took

Hopefully, as the shifter "loosens up" a little, through usage, you'll like it more. Did you adjust the "neutral gate" while you were in there?

yeah, like I said I really didn't like the hurst at all. It was harder to find gears while still feeling sloppier than my b&m. Between stock and hurst I would choose stock.

I think you're missing my point. When the shifter is in neutral, look down where the shift rod (that goes back to the transmission), and see if the hole in the rod lines up with the hole in the clamp. If these two holes don't line up, you have to loosen the clamp and adjust until the two holes do line up (with the shifter remaining in neutral). This adjustment insures your ability to properly select all gear positions.
