Default fuel gauge

Had new clutch installed now my fuel gauge will not go to the full position when I fill up. Is there something they could of touched under there that would affect the gauge. thanks Joe

Maybe it's just a coincidence the fuel gauge is not working correctly after the clutch work.
The C5 is known to have fuel gauge problems and in my case (as well as others) a bottle or two of Techron in the gas tank fixed it. Techron cleans the contacts.

I run it in there all the time . I thought there was some kind of leveler between the 2 tanks ?

Having the experience of doing my own clutch replacement, there is nothing I can think of that in any way would have affected the fuel gage.

The C5 fuel tank sending unit for each tank has bare circuit board inside it with traces. A mechanical float in the tank is connected to an arm which traverses the traces across the circuit board and thereby modulating the fuel level information into electrical information. When the car comes out the factory, the traces on the circuit board are as clean and shiny as a new silver dollar. Over time, the traces get sulfur deposits on them and this compromises the traces. Many on this board will tell you that Sea Foam additive resolves the issue. This is probably true but there is a point of no return where the traces become so deteriorated, that no amount of sea foam will fix because they are no longer capable of conducting.

After I had my sending units replaced 10 years ago, I only put Chevron fuel in my car and nothing else...ever! I have had no problems.

If you go to the dealer, the circuit boards themselves can't be replaced. They will replace the entire sending unit which provides the circuit boards. For this reason, expect both units to be replaced at the dealer for around $900 or higher... This is my best guess-ti-mation. Try the seafoam first and hopefully it will help you.
