Just a thought. If you plan on displaying your '03 in competition, you may want to keep the original tires and wheels. I was at one competition and a car did not win 1st place because it did not have the factory run flats.

I would not drive on 13 year old tires. If you would consider non-run flats, there are many different brands to choose from and at prices nearly half of what runflats cost.

Exactly what he said. I was going to say the same thing but he beat me to it. Especially if the road surface is wet or damp. Or if you want to take a long road trip. Safety is the number one priority, while having fun driving the car is second, and you don't want to have to worry about it.

I have driven my share of miles through out my lifetime and have never had a flat. To go though life running hard non-handling tires just in case something might happen would not be for me. But that's why they make both types.

The other 6.8 billion people on earth seem to get along with non runflats just fine. I've had 1 flat on a personally owned car in 20 years. Not really much of a stress point to get rain on me once in a while.

I replaced my aged run flats with Hankooks and have a better quieter ride. No one really wants to run around on old tires but the question needs to asked: Anyone have an aged Goodyear run flat fail or come apart at speed causing damage or an accident? Is this all speculation?
When you buy tires use TireRack for a price comparison. Many locals will match or beat their price especially after you include shipping costs and you won't need to deal with their "shady" recommended installers that like to price gouge customers.

To be fair, some runflats can keep going with a blowout while a seal kit isn't going to do anything.

I pretty much know the answer to this question but just want to hear it from you guys. Got a 03 coupe with only 16k miles and they have the original F1 run flats on them. They still have a lot of tread but from what have been reading they probably are unsafe.
I didn't know that tires have an age life until getting this car recently.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Rob

Bridgestone's DriveGuards are rated to 50 miles after a blowout.
An interesting thing to note is that run flats are twice as likely to get blowouts compared to regular tires according to J.D. Power and Associates.
