Anyone have any experience with any of the various seats out there? Sure I would love some Caravaggio or Corbeaus, but I'm frugal, actually no I'm cheap..
I recrently started auto crossing and the sport seats are not getting the job done for me. I spend more time holding on and hoping the seat backs stay in place and don't release.
Thanks for the replies. I would really like replies with EXPERIENCE with those seats. The you get what you pay for etc. replies aren't really useful.
I have not tried less expensive seats but some others on here have and in general the reports aren't too bad considering the price and just about anything would hold you in better than the stock seats. The Cipher seats are a nice mid priced seat and Corbeaus look good too. I am with you though and interested in what would work for a reasonable price. One poster on here, I think it is SuperTom tried the Ebay seats and the Ciphers and has a good write up. The thread is fairly recent, too. I'll see if I can find it....
Thanks for finding that link! That is the kind of info I was hoping to see.
yep I experimented with both. If money is tight those ebay seats are pretty damn good for the money wayyyyy better than stock. You can get a nice cloth version that will be comfy and hold you in place.
A more permanent upgrade would come from Corbeau, Cipher, Braum at a reasonable price range and upgrade in quality from the ebay seats.
By the way I loveeee my Ciphers I drive an hour each way to work and the perfect combo of comfort and support.
In the end anything is better that the stock seats. I put the money into upgrading the stock seats with fresh foam and repairing the air bladders. In the end you are still left with a heavy, rocking, unsupportive design.
ehhhhh, i bought some ebay seats a few years back for my old MR2, they fit amazing, but i ended up snapping the brackets off the seat(im also a pretty big guy) after sitting in the vette the seats are a little lacking IMO, and mine are broke (slide back and forth 1/2" under braking) so even the $150 ebay seats would fit nicer, id just be a little worried about them breaking again

Are you saying if I don't drive my ZO6 like I stole it the flebays seat will hold up?

the seats in my old car held up just fine, It was the cheap bracket that snapped off and sent me flying haha, Im sure if you picked up some GOOD brackets, they would do just fine
Good info here, I can't believe how uncomfortable my seats are compared to my C4's. They feel too narrow and unsupportive, my driver side back is even broken on one side.

I agree! The seats in my 87, although not the greatest in the world were way more comfortable than the ones in my Z.
OP, let me know what seats and hardware you go with. I'll most likely be looking into a set myself. Preferably unbranded. http://m.ebay.com/itm/2X-UNIVERSAL-TS-BLK-RED-CLOTH-LEATHER-RECLINABLE-RACING-BUCKET-SEATS-SLIDERS-C06-/381180512904?nav=SEARCH
I have a set of the Ebay seats/brackets currently in my car, They look good and good support. There is a couple of of Ebay seller that sells the seats. The first set I order from Speed_Daddy is torn and have a slight issue with the return/refund, but Ebay stepped in and took care of it. Then I ordered a set from the dptmortorsport seller, I got the clothes cover for easy of clean and cool for the summer. I drive the car for a couple of long trip and no problem with support and comfort. I did raised the driver side bracket up an 1'' higher for better support. The only problem that I had was to re-drilled some holes in the after market bracket for the seat rails for a better fit. Also have to buy some extra hardware to mount the seats.(The Brackets you buy doesn't come with any mounting hardware) There is a write up in the forum show how to install this type after market seats and what you will need. Also you will have to switch the driver and passenger side to avoid the seat belt return space issue.

The ebay brackets I got are a solid steel, I weight about 180lbs and they are solid, don't know if they have a weight limit for the bigger guys
Planted Brackets are another option maybe sturdier gonna cost about $100 - $125 a pop
