The winter was so mild here, this year, I managed to drive mine every month this winter. Having a black C5, I really like being able to drive it and not having to spend 45 minutes cleaning off the bug splats. That won't last much longer.
We in Chicago have been fortunate this winter- Early winter snow, but then days of rain to wash the salt away. Between the C3 and newer C5, I have been able to drive several days each month, and today was incredible- 62 degrees, light overcast, light winds. I took a 2 hour cruise in the C5 through the forest preserves along the Kankakee River and back.
Here is the C3 on News Year Day this year next to the frozen Monee reservoir, and below that the C5.
Once again I feel compelled, in a good way, to comment on your C3. Very, very nice is a major understatement! That C5 isn't looking too shabby either!! Best wishes and take care!
Went to open the garage after uncovering but a door spring had broken and hanging by the safety cable. Soooo off to lowes tomorrow for a pair of new springs then back it out. Thank God for the safety cable👍
My harmonic balancer is wobbling. No "squirrels fighting" sound indicating that its completely done, but wobbling enough to scare me. I've heard/read that if it's wobbling, it can cause substantial damage if you drive it too much (something about pushing in on the crank or something like that?).
My appointment with the Corvette shop is in May. New ATI balancer, brake bleed, Callaway Honker install, Radio Flyer bi-xenon headlight install and halo LED tail light install, HID fog light install, interior LED bulb install, Z06 wire mesh shroud install, LMC5 install...It's going to be like a whole new Corvette!
I can't wait. In the meantime, to prevent the HB from hurting the LS1...about 6-7 weeks of patiently waiting.
Here in the NE corner of WV we have had a very mild and unusually snow free winter, so the C5 has been regularly used regularly. Only a couple days where it would not have been usable - and those are what the soon to be retired Subie is for.
My wife's C5 vert is probably going to be sitting for another 8 weeks. She had knee replacement last week (on her left clutch pedal knee) so it sits while she rehabs. And no, I don't drive it, except when it needs gas or a wash and it won't need either for a while.
Here is hoping work will pick up for you. Funny how it all depends on ones financial situation. I will be retiring in 30 days and being locked in a fixed income situation is getting my attention...but I still would rather be at home than at work..lol. All the best, Rob
Thanks for that. It has, so now it's just a matter of time. Technically I could put the old heads back on it (ported 317's) but I've already lifted them once, and feel the move to a thicker deck aftermarket head is necessary at this point.
Drove it to work. It's raining now. It might stop before I clock out in the morning, otherwise I'll be driving it home in the rain.
Supposed to snow Tuesday. I will leave it in the garage that day.
Dug it out of the garage on Sunday. Went for a 40 mile cruise and out for dinner in it.
Still have the chore of detailing her top to bottom and the weatherman is calling for snow again on Friday! Praying for NO SALT!
The roads up here in western Pennsylvania are almost clean enough to bring mine out. Hopefully the street sweepers will be putting in some overtime soon. Other than that I am knee deep in a front main seal replacement on the car.
I'm thinking I'll pull the cover off her today for the first time since the fall.
I've seen a few out and about already this spring, and the roads are clean in my area.
Nice thing about CA: cover stays off year round.
Bad thing about CA: dumb politicians and dumber regulations. Why the hell does a CAI and catch can need to be CARB approved?
