A lot of us "grown ups" have these vents also because they WORK at the track. How they look at car shows doesn't really matter to guys who actually track their cars.

The mistake the young OP made was he asked what we all thought. And I'm sure he got honest answers. If it works for him great thats all that matters. Im sure we are all grown ups here, well at least most of us.

I'm sure you feel special because you "track" your car. I want you to know how wonderful that is, and how much I'm impressed.

Thank you, everyone should track their car at least once. Sure beats sitting on a lawn chair at a car show, not that there is anything wrong with that.

I don't find it a mistake. I wanted opinions regardless if its negative or positive. I'm only curious haha

You shouldn't have done it. You're going to need the rest of the C5-R body now to feed the addiction.

I don't see why there are haters. The OP didn't do it to a stock hood. He could return it to stock in an hour.

I don't really see haters (iin the sense of the term, even if there are some who hate what he's done), He asked for opinions, he's getting them.

Personally I'm not a fan of making the C5 look like other generations and not crazy about the look for that reason. I do think that the C5 has inadequate venting under the hood. I'm not crazy about the large unpainted CF portion but there is a weight savings with the CF. It is an aftermarket hood so it doesn't matter much. He didn't vent the OEM on a pristine Vette.

I see it as an easily reversible performance mod.

I still have to stock one hanging up on my wall, just cleaned and waxed it yesterday to make it look better. I may end up putting the twin flags on it in a vinyl wrap and hang it in the garage.

OP, I seem to recall that you had an earlier post, about experiencing front end "lightness" at speed, after you first installed this hood. Here's something to consider....the "reverse scoop", that your hood has, creates a certain amount of "lift", because it re-directs the air at the base of the windshield, back into the engine compartment.

Carbureted engines used this airflow to feed the carbs. If you're using this hood for looks and/or induction system clearance, but not drawing the air into the engine, you'll continue to build a high pressure area underneath the hood. Hopefully, the vents will help, but at speed, you're drawing a lot of air under the hood with that riser on the hood.

Yeah the vents work pretty well with the heat and the lift. Hit 150 last night. Without the louvers, it was somewhat scary when you can see the car start to lift that much, but now it feels tighter to the ground and I didn't see a large lift anymore either. I'm sure if I closed the cowl that is will further help get rid of the lift so I may build a "plug" style closed end for the cowl portion so I can open and close as pleased. I have noticed with a yarn test that when stopped and with the fans on, heat does come out of the cowl induction in a large amount which I like very much here in the Texas heat . (Though this was tested before the louvers were put on, may have different results now.)
