Not a new Camaro fan at all. There is no fun factor in the looks..try to make them look so mean and threatening that fun is not even on the radar. (not even mentioning feeling like you are in a submarine when driving one) No cool factor, all business. A new Stingray C7 hell yes! IMHO.
I really like the looks of the ZL-1, but I have to wonder if they have cured the blind spots the earlier Camaros had. In any case, not sure I would pick it over a C7.
The blind spots are a real problem and would take some getting used to.

Comparing a new design muscle car to a 20 year old sports car design is hardly a fair comparison. Compare that Camaro to a C7 ZL1 and the Vette would destroy it...
I am sure the Lt_what ever is a good ride . I did last year rent a new 300 mile SS the high end one with all the bells ETC. Paddle shift went from Houston to N. Alabama in it . First about 18 MPG on the interstate it felt very heavy to drive the gauge lay was nuts couldn't see half the gauges and looked like an after thought it would start moving at around 50-60 MPH under that was slow ,you could just tell it was trying to get over the 4600 +- LBS did move after around 50-60 MPH . The SS was comfortable to say the lest and drove nice and people looked at it like cool ride . I think I would been better off in a Buick SUV . Just saying could have been a hot rod if GM had wanted to make it one but no .. So I guess LT- whatever is what the SS should have been . Sports car NO way .. I would not give my C-5 Comm. Z with 550 Hp for two of them ..

The post'16 Camaros don't weigh any where near 4600 lbs. I think the new style looks mean. I'd love a blue with white stripes. The visibility issue is NBD for me, 'cause I'm long torso'd, so I have to worry more about head room.
After a day at the track and getting some stick time in my buddies I think I'd prefer the mustang over the camaro. That mustang was horrendous. Especially in track mode.

Owned a 2010 SS ZL 550 and got rid of it. Don't get me a wrong its a nice car but its to bulky. Blind spots suck and now they are a dime a dozen on the streets.
Would I buy another? Nope. For the cost and craftsman's ship I rather buy a used c5 or c6 and build it up to my likings.
The font end on them just go to insane and looking like the catfish nose of the gen 4's again.

You were the one that made the original comparison... The 2017 ZL1 is far more than a "Muscle Car". They've got it dialed in very well, and it would give even the mighty C7 Z06 a run for it's money.
Edit: My mistake. You were referencing the OP regarding the 2017 ZL1 posting better lap times than the C7Z. I wouldn't be surprised if they're close.

Interestingly, Chevy posts a 7:29 Nurburgring lap time for the ZL1, and even better lap times for the C6 Z06 and ZR1, all online with videos, but apparently no "published" number for the C7 Z06. Rumors abound about a 7:08 lap, but also about overheating.
I doubt a C5 in any tune could beat a ZL1 there - and the Nordschleife is the ultimate test of a road car.
Not that I don't agree with the people critiquing the styling - too high waisted, resulting in narrow windows and blind spots. And basically too garish for me. But definitely quick.

You say you prefer it, then proceed to tell us it was horrendous. Which is it?
ZL-1 w/ 1LE is a hardcore track car. I'm a Camaro fan. We have a '15 Z/28 in the garage next to the C5. Two completely different cars in there own time.
You can't go wrong with a C7Z06 or the new ZL1 IMO.
Blind spots are relative. Drive a big box truck with your side mirrors, those are blind spots. I have no issue seeing out of the car. The new 6th gen didn't get any more visibility.
