Default 2017 ZL1 anyone?

I used to be a Trans-Am guy until I got my first Corvette. Always loved the Trans Ams and if they had never quit making them, I would have probably never stepped up to the Corvette.

Now the Camaros (closest thing to a TA) are starting to call to me again. Especially the ZL-1. 650 HP beast. Basically a 2017 Z06 for about 15-25K less than the Z06.

Early test show that this car actually outperforms the Z06 on the track. That's insane for a Camaro. I still prefer the sports car lines of the Corvette, but man oh man, that ZL-1 is BAD to the bone!

What do you guys think of the new 2017 Camaro ZL-1? Tempting or are you stuck on Corvettes?

P.S. No, I will NOT get rid of my C5 Z06!

I don't believe that a muscle car outperforms a sports car on the track...

The ZL-1 Camaros are fast and look cool as well but here is the deal are you a Corvette guy are a Camaro guy ,your not going to be happy when if your are in the Zl-1 and a new Z Corvette pulls up beside you , does the money at this point rally matter .. Its the cool factor and is priceless..

It's true, but only in some aspects though.
The Corvette has so much downforce in some configurations, and the Camaro does not; which allows it to go faster on straights...
...again, only in very specific applications.

There are also aerodynamics to consider here...I hope someone isn't going to tell me the Camaro is sleeker, or even as sleek as a C7...

Lets get real ,I drive on the track on most weekends , take 30 Corvettes whatever and 25 or so of the people driving over 80 freak out and about is all they can do anyway very few people can drive any Corvette at speed its designed to go anyway including myself .. So does it really matter .. I'm a driver racer if your looking to drive on the track at speed go get one and have some fun if not just be cool and keep the Corvette .. Very few people that own a Corvette have been over 100 MPH . I was on COTA a few years back in my old C-5 doing 165 MPH bringing the front wheel off the ground in the turns if you can hang go for it .. Just saying

I really like the camaros. Have driven them a fair amount. That ZL1 looks insane. However... I find the visibility to be poor, and I had to laugh when a black one parked by me at the store once and as I was climbing in my corvette to leave another gentleman walking by made the observation that the camaro looked like the box my corvette came in. I had a good laugh. And I certainly would not poo poo a ZL1. But I do prefer the lines on the corvette. To me it is like rolling art. Always wanted one. Glad to have one.

Aren't 1st world problems great?

I really like the looks of the ZL-1, but I have to wonder if they have cured the blind spots the earlier Camaros had. In any case, not sure I would pick it over a C7.

No, no, the ill fated Caddy XLR was the original "box the C5 came in". Of course, you could equally say that about the current Camaro - or the C7 for that matter. Both are "angular" cars as against the sleekness of the C5.

The only Camaro I have ever really liked styling wise, was the 1970's era 2nd gen, the one with the upright grille and "short" bumpers each side. Especially the Z28's.

Have you ever heard of these guys?

I've always been a Corvette guy but I love Trans Ams too. Way cooler than a Camaro. These Trans Am Depot guys basically take Camaros and convert them. T tops, color schemes, all the awesome Trans Am stuff. They have all the licensing to use the name too if I'm not mistaken. They also make them FAST. Optional engines can run up to 1000 hp. They ARE kind of pricey but if you're thinking of dropping money on a ZL-1 you should DEFINITELY check this out first. And then take me for a ride in it after you get it.

Not a new Camaro fan at all. There is no fun factor in the looks..try to make them look so mean and threatening that fun is not even on the radar. (not even mentioning feeling like you are in a submarine when driving one) No cool factor, all business. A new Stingray C7 hell yes! IMHO.
