Seeing the "little things" thread made me think of this. I have center cap decals that need to be put on. Does anyone know any way to make sure the decals are centered on the cap? Any input, tips, tricks, etc, appreciated.
I suppose if you want to be as accurate as possible, you could make a "center point" on your caps with a magic marker (just a very small dot) - I guess you could geometry it out and get it perfect but a good eyeballing would probably work just as well. Then using the aforementioned eyeballing technique, take a straight pin and stick it very slightly through the center of your decal, then put the point of the pin on the dot and press your decal down. If it was me, I'd probably just eyeball the whole thing and then move on. Doubtful you could tell much difference. GL with your project.

When I put new decals on my centercaps, I just got them as close as possible to being centered and stuck them on. It would be very hard to tell if they were off a little bit.
So in my case I used the decals as a stencil. First painted the center caps, after sanding and priming, a gloss black. Then eye-balled the decals on the black center cap. Then painted the center caps Velocity Yellow to match the C6Z06 calipers, covering the decals. Carefully pricked a corner of the decal up and peeled off to reveal the gloss black crossed flag emblem you see in the pics. I guess you could measure across the diameter of the caps at right angles and mark the intersection which would give you exact center point of each cap, but eye-balling will suffice in 99.99% of the time. If you screw up you can peel off and try again. Once on you can also spray with a plastic compatible clear coat if desired to anchor the decals. Good Luck. Yeah and I know the blacked out emblems and matching center caps to calipers is not for everyone. But I liked it and it reminds me of how Ferrari does theirs.
