Took wife out eat for her birthday, came out to find someone had backed into my vette and left. The passenger fender and headlight assy and hood will have to be replace at the least. I always park as far away from others as possible. Had to be someone in a truck that sits high up
Sorry to hear that, not a good day. I'm with the above poster who recommended checking for security cameras for the lot. Very good chance they are there and might have captured the incident. That aside hoping for the best in getting your vette fixed up. Take care!
That stuff makes my blood boil. Any possibility there were cameras in the parking lot?
My nephew had his car backed into while parked at a resteraunt and the guy left. There was a security camera that caught it and they found him. Got his money.
I also try to park in the safest spot possible, but some idiot will still probably to run into it.
Some time ago I was eating lunch at a sidewalk cafe. My nice white 92 was parked in front of me. There was a Suburban parked in front of the Vette the owner got in and backed up until his trailer hitch made that annoying warning sound as it dug into my front bumper and hood. He put it in D and was about to leave I fortunately was 10 years younger at the time and was able to clear the the short fence that separated the eating area and bang on his back window to get his attention before he drove away. He got out looked at the damage and denied that he caused it. Lucky for me a couple of my dining cohorts came over and said they would be more than happy to be a witness. He did ultimately give me all the necessary info and we later settled to my satisfaction. Bottom line if I wasn't there I would have been a victim too.
Boys let me tell you something. People nowadays for the most part are a joke. People just don't give a $#@%#$ about their fellow man. They don't. Sad but true. So sorry to hear. These cars are our babies.
X2 on checking out the surrounding businesses for security cameras. Do it! Good luck friend.

So many clueless people in this world. I would be mad if it happened to my car. Many idiots don't even care what happens to their car. Maybe you will be able to find out who hit your car so that you can sue him/her.
Hitting a parked car and leaving the scene of the crime has serious consequences. While you might think that it's just another accident, the law actually considers it a hit and run. ... If you decide to leave the scene, the owner of the parked car can sue you for damages.
Drivers and car owners today are by and large, inconsiderate idiots. They have no regard for their vehicles or property and certainly no one elses.
I have had to literally threaten a few people who will park as close to my cars and motorcycles as humanly possible. The Vette and bike are the largest targets that they seem to go out of their way to put in serious jeopardy. However, even my daily driver (Honda Accord), is not immune. I have even had people park so close to me that I could not even get into my car. No excuse as their were open parking spaces within 20 feet with plenty of room. They simply do not pay attention and do not care.
My Vette and biker buddy came out of a restaurant one night, only to see teenagers sitting on his Z06's hood. You can imagine how happy he was.
It is so bad, that I am paranoid every time I take the Vette out.
One of my biking buddies came out from a restaurant one time, only to see his expensive Road King lying on the ground. Some idiot opened their large SUV door and slammed it into his bike. Like in your case, they left, but other people saw it and told him what happened.

In most sates 'no fault' only covers bodily injury. That is so there is no question at all about having medical bills paid. Property damage needs to be assessed as to who is at fault in order to determine which company pays.
In the OP's case had he not gotten the offenders info he would have been covered by his own insurance for a hit and run. Minus his deductible of course.
