Finding a Rack and Pinion

I was told my rack and pinion needs to be replaced. Brought it to a second mechanic and he agreed a replacement or rebuild is necessary. Only one I've found online has been an A1 Cardone unit. Heard terrible things about them. Anyone else have a recommendation of where and what brand to buy?

If your C5 is not a DD then you're better off sending out your original unit and having that rebuilt.

The Vette is not my DD. I wont remove the rack myself, and I'm not sure if I can take up a bay in the shop until it's rebuilt.

Might see what Marc at Vette Nuts has if all local options fail.

I have read that the parts supply is running low on this item, too many track guys bouncing off curbs over the years has eaten the inventory.

However, if you find one of those local track guys, he can probably give you info about a local repair option. In my area , it's Rotex, perhaps there is a good local place close to you.
