KBB is actually a bit lower than NADA which I have found to be more accurate in my area. The numbers I posted are with average mileage in good condition. Do yourself a favor and don't pour money into performance mods. That will empty your wallet and add little of no value to your vehicle. I will also make many future potential buyer walk away. I'm with you, a boater that owns a vert.
or, modify your car and have fun with it if that's what you please.
Sure, it won't add much value, but as we just determined it isn't worth much right now anyways, so if the mods make you happy, and you can afford them, then be happy.
If you know your car that well and wont take what it may actually sell for just keep it and do some performance mods. As one above posted says it all just bolts on and it does. Youre probably better off in the long run unless your tired of the convertible and have to have something different
I've bolted on-"CAI"-tuned-exhaust-etc already on the Vert- performs like it's nearly new, only issue car has is computer quirks which I plan on addressing shortly..
I'm 98% sure I'm going to keep what I have- new question- lower on stock bolts? My performance shop says that's next step in progression
The performance of a stock Z06 is pretty compelling in choosing between it and a vert as that was my dilemma, also. What swayed my decision is that I felt the fixed roof coupe was also the best looking of the three options to me. I still love the look of a vert with the top down but couldn't pass on the performance of the Z. The general public that don't keep up with corvette generations, body styles, etc. always say when I tell them what year it is that it looks much newer than that and most think it's worth a lot more than it really is. It looks and drives like a 50 thousand dollar bill but is in reality half or less that much. Great bang for the buck.

Didn't like the FRC look in the beginning of my search for a C 5 have been kicking myself since (has grown on me)!!! Of course my Fiance's 06 ZO 6 has me thinking C 6 ZO 6 !!!

Sure, that's an easy cheap (often free) next step. Ideally you would have the car corner weighted and dropped just a little for optimal performance.
There is absolutely zero chance I will sell my vert for $11k- I'll simply keep it- which appears the direction I'm heading- I'm not a track guy- to be honest I'm a hardcore boater-fishermen that owns a vette- so my budget is very limited and this seems like a costly exercise that is far from life changing for me. I've also spent couple grand making the car mine- both performance add on's and cosmetically. She might only be worth $11k to Kelly Blue Book- but worth far more in my head

NADA has your car's clean retail at $11,350 and the 01 Z is $15,100 so the REAL difference in value is $3,750 . You will find (especially on this site) current owners of "Z" cars have both inflated values and inflated egos in their head.

I am really starting to warm to the C6 Z06 myself. If I were ever to purchase a C6 it would probably have to be a Z06 or I would just skip to a C7. Your fiance' has good taste!
All I know is he stated he swapped everything in the car for the Z06 package.
Must have meant the trans as well.
I rode in it once, and to be honest, it scared the **** out of me it was so fast.
Bob.
I'm confused.
You got a ride in it but don't know if he shifted or not?
And a stock Z06 is not "incredibly fast". You should have had a ride in my 905 HP 98 C5, that would of really "scared the **** out" of you.

this just in: all non z06 corvettes are now automatics.
there was more than z parts if it was that drastic, or it was his driving.....
well, if you went from a 2.73 rear gear automatic to a stock z06, the difference would be really substantial. But I agree, generally I would say if all that work was being done, some parts may have been upgraded to more than just stock z06

The red one? That car

i only said that because there would obviously be no visual way to determine if a car had a mn6 or an m12 just from a ride. Either transmission is obviously a t56, but knewblew made it seem as if it was only an option for manual or automatic.

I was just joking around with your post. Kinda like using

You are 100% correct about that change, it was my first mod and the one I would recommend to anyone with the 273's. It made a world of difference But it didn't IMO make the car scary fast.....what is there a *.5 to .75 sec diff in quarter mile between base and "z"? not exactly earth shattering.
*I did not look that up, it was from memory, if I'm off let me know.
