Default Visors

Hopefully a simple question...

How do I remove and replace the sun visors on a C5 convertible?

TIA.

It is simple. Changed mine in ten minutes. Google it for instructions with pictures. Here is a short video.

I removed the old visor on my C5 and this plastic sleeve is attached to the visor. The new visors I bought do NOT have this plastic sleeve. Is there a method to get this loose, is there a retaining ring somewhere? Or, did I get a bum deal and now have to buy new plastic sleeves?

My new ones came with that. I don't know how it comes off. Where did you get them?

They are pressed on and can be removed. Go to this thread and review Post#28

Got them from Eckler's Corvette. I'll go back to them and ask the same question.

I think that is where I bought mine a couple years ago. I probably should have pulled them off the old ones before I threw them away.

I just read the link above to the toothpick method. I think the zip tie is a little thinner and might slide easier. I'm sure the toothpick will work.

I just removed some from some visors. I pry each one of the 3 legs away from the shaft with a small screwdriver. I pry the leg from the side and slip a small to medium zip tie in from the top to hold it away from the shaft. Slip it straight in from the top of the shaft, not the side. The zip tie is just thick enough to hold the leg away from the shaft to clear the ridge on the shaft. Cut the zip tie to leave a piece wedged in then pry the next leg and repeat. Once all three legs are pried back a little turn it over and rap on the ring in several places around the ring to slide it off the shaft. Don't smack it too hard, you don't want to break it. I didn't have a problem but maybe a very small shot of wd-40 on the shaft to help lube it. I didn't use anything and I'm just suggesting the WD. The zip tie was the only way to hold the 3 legs away from the shaft so it would slip off. That is, unless you have 5 hands to do it. I'd make sure there was no lube on the parts when you re-use them. I think they need some friction when they rotate.

If anyone has any old sun visors they're getting rid of let me know. I could use a couple of those rings or the whole visor even if it's floppy etc.

Thanks,

Art
