Drive it before someone else does

You are now officially a Jedi and you have put the Dark Side behind you forever! You have chosen . . . wisely---
When I recently turned 62, I starting thinking of posts by people selling there dad's or Grandfather's corvettes with low mileage since they have past on. I have a 2003 AE sitting in the garage with only 25,000 miles and I know a lot of others with lower miles just sitting in there garage. I said to myself, your not going to sell it, so get in it and start driving it and enjoying the thrill of what made you buy it in the first place. So this year I have put over 10,000 mile on it just cruising these Kansas country roads and a few trips to the Ozarks and Colorado Mountains. The joy I felt driving this wonderful car made me feel like I was in my 20's again, and yes I even challenged Fords and Dodge's that ref there engines when they pull up next to me. I plan to put at least 15,000 to 20,000 miles on it next year. So the moral of this story is: "When have you seen a u haul behind a Hearst"
Enjoy the car you have been staring at for the past 10 to 20 years and smile everytime you drive it!!!

I'm 33 this November and I do want my car to last until I am your age so I do less miles =) but I'm busy with my kids a lot, my dad started driving his cars more lately now like you are. Have fun! Take some photos of your destinations for us. Cheers.

People like you, allowed my generation to enjoy this car like you have, and for that, thank you to all of the elders on the forum.
I will own a few more cars and will do the same for my kids or whoever

Keep on driving because soon we will only be allowed to be driving electric cars. Already the city of Paris has plans on outlawing gas automobiles in the next 20 years.

Now that I have reached "66" and fully retired......I find myself waxing my "03" Coupe less and driving (enjoying) her more.
I still keep her more waxed up than I do my "16" Caddy SRX which makes No Sense

Just turned 40K om my 04 vert that was purchased at 31K 3 years ago. Just fixed my vert window (post will come shortly) so now ready to drive, and all winter long. I wil not drive in snow or rain. Do not have to. But at 74, I want to enjoy the car, not look at it.

Seems older Guys have these grandiose dreams of their kids or loved ones carrying on dads love and tradition for his cream puff . The reality is once dad kicks the bucket the kids will dump that car to the highest bidder before he's even in the ground . Don't buy your vette for the next guy ! Get out and enjoy the thing . Life is short . The best way to enjoy these cars is to drive them

Though I don’t have the low miles as some here, I’m turning 60 soon and maybe for that reason I’ve really had the itch this year. I’ve worked a lot on my car to improve it which meant even more “test” driving. And like someone said, I drive it like I stole it. I’ve put more than 7k miles on it this year and haven’t even gone out of WA state.
Hell, just this past weekend I took my 23 year old son on a 180 mile round trip in my ‘02 to look at a ‘91 C4. He’s not going to buy it because he told me that after driving there and back on the nice, long, scenic and sometimes twisty roads, that he now has set his sites on a C5.
So just knowing that I may have possibly handed off the torch to him makes me feel good about my car which keeps me scratching that itch. Drive on!

For me, I just hate getting the bug splatters all over a clean car and the cleanup that follows after a day's outing. I do tend to take the car out more during cooler days, though. I'm just OCD about keeping the Vette clean, I guess.

We both drive the same looking Vettes and found an easy way to keep it looking real good. I use Meguiar's Waterless Wash and Wax. Its so fast and easy, I work my way around the car with a different panel every few days. The roof, then the drivers door, then keep going around. It takes five minutes a panel.
