When I recently turned 62, I starting thinking of posts by people selling there dad's or Grandfather's corvettes with low mileage since they have past on. I have a 2003 AE sitting in the garage with only 25,000 miles and I know a lot of others with lower miles just sitting in there garage. I said to myself, your not going to sell it, so get in it and start driving it and enjoying the thrill of what made you buy it in the first place. So this year I have put over 10,000 mile on it just cruising these Kansas country roads and a few trips to the Ozarks and Colorado Mountains. The joy I felt driving this wonderful car made me feel like I was in my 20's again, and yes I even challenged Fords and Dodge's that ref there engines when they pull up next to me. I plan to put at least 15,000 to 20,000 miles on it next year. So the moral of this story is: "When have you seen a u haul behind a Hearst"
Enjoy the car you have been staring at for the past 10 to 20 years and smile everytime you drive it!!!

Well said and a great point you make. Life is very, very short! I think it takes the perspective of having gotten older and gaining the ability to look back at ones life and realize just how quickly our time here comes and goes to really understand that phrase. Take care!

People get their pleasure of owning a car like the Corvette in different ways. If one of those ways is having the car sit in the garage for the majority of the time, then that’s their choice and I respect that. I do agree that for most people the thrill of being behind the wheel on a nice twisty road or any road for that matter is hard to beat.
That seem to be what some of the people are doing. They keep their Vette or Vetter in the garage and under a cover. Maybe to a CC or maybe once in awhile for a short drive just to get the tires dirty. Even I got mine as a second hand car, but I do drive mine as much as I can. I do enjoy my dream car.
Good advice.
I'm lucky as I have both. My 02 doesn't see the road much, just to car shows and such. I also have a 99 I can drive everyday and not worry about getting caught in the rain. It has about 700 horses under the hood and I use every one of them. I drive it often and drive it like it was stolen (which got me in trouble two weeks ago )
Now that most of us owners are staring 6 months winter in the face you come up with this suggestion. Were you too busy all summer to post?
LOL!
OP; good on you, drive it, I drive my Z06 daily. Although that will be over in a few weeks I'm guessing.
But as another said, if what you enjoy doing is staring at it, do that.

YUP, I bought a 10 zr1 with 15k miles on it in December and its what keeps me going to work sometimes not to pay for it, but just the 20 mile drive. Already have 23k on it.
I too have a garage queen with just over 20k miles. I've had it since new, and like to wrench, so it's been on stands almost as much as on the tires. I haven't been able to drive it much for almost 4 years, because of 3 different back surgeries, but my goal now is to work hard at healing, so I can actually drive it more. It needs drag radials because the 325 Invos are like ice skates, and a softer MC so it's easier to drive, but that's the plan. I look at newer cars, and none of them are as exciting as my 643 RWHP Z06, nor better looking, IMO. I'm 64, BTW.
64 years old, and I just autocrossed my 97 today, and my 2 sons with a new GTI, and a new Jaguar F type. We all finished within 1 second of each other. That's quality family time for sure. I was 3rd out of the 3 of us, .8 seconds back with a 20 year old car though.
Mines been sitting for about 2.5 months now. Needs a new AC compressor so I'm waiting for it to cool off to change it. Not fun driving it in 115 degree days without AC, so it sits. Our "winter" is just around the corner so I'll take the cover off and be heading to some fun things with it fo'sho...92K on the 'ol meter now.
I bought mine to drive...It had 38k on the clock when I bought it 3 summers ago. Now has right at 55k. What else can you do that is as much fun as you can legally have with your clothes on. I have an '04 vert, m6 and triple black.
