the museum is open 7 days a week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm central time. It's the assembly plant that is closed and it will not reopen until january 2019. The plant closed on june 16th.
I want to go, problem is, I want to go through both the museum and the assembly plant, but one of them is only open on week days, which makes it more difficult to go. I would have to take time off of work to go. Plus the museum is closed right now, isn't it?
The wife and I visited the museum on Friday 10/27 17. Open with tours, Ed
That's what is posted on the NCM website. The closing period is supposed to be 18 months.
If you order a new Corvette and want NCM delivery (RPO R8C) you can order that but the free Assembly Plant Tour that goes with it won't be available until the re-opening. You do get that tour once the plant is open again. I would expect that the Buyer's Tour and the Z06 Engine Build isn't available right now either.
My son and I made the trip this spring. The thing that really got my attention was the exhibit that showed how the frame was formed from a piece of heavy pipe. You can see why there is no flex in the frame on these cars.
Spent a few days in Gatlinburg and just had to check out the Vette Museum. The first photo is the '62 sinkhole victim coming back to life. The bodyman looks proud of his work, as he should be!
That's Daniel. he runs the restoration shop. Dude is a corvette guru. I got his advice on my c5 before I made3 the drive to check it out/buy it. And any time I have a question about my car, i stop in and he knows the answer!

The plant opened back up a few weeks ago, I guess just not to the public. Someone apparently took a phone pic on the assembly line the other day and it leaked out & I was told sh*t hit the fan.
