My positive battery cable bolt is all boogered up. Is it possible to replace just the bolt? I messed with it for a while with a wrench and some pliers but I didn't want to screw it up. Figured I would ask here first before I'm buying an new cable or something.
Replacement battery bolts are available at I would venture to guess any auto store. Like the link says, warm up the plastic cover. Stretch the plastic cover over the bolt. The bolt will come right out of the terminal end as the only thing holding it to the terminal is the cover itself. Slip a new bolt in the hole and slip the cover back over the top of it. Reinsert into battery, being careful not cross thread it (which is why I had to replace mine in the first place). The head of the terminal is 5/16". If the bolt is corroded you may have to slip the cover off the bolt while the terminal is still connected to the battery and use a visegrip or something to unscrew it. Best of luck...
Thanks guys, I've got the bolts already. I bought them to install into the battery to have a place to hook up the battery tender over the winter. Battery is disconnected while I re-wire the amps, subs, install a new box, install a sub control.
Hopefully I can heat up the plastic and get the old one out with out any isuues.
When I changed my bolt I didn't heat up the cover. It was pretty stiff but came off fairly easily. Warming it up would definitely make it easier to remove I' m sure.

You should be able to get the bolt out using the procedure above. No need to buy a new cable.
