I know the feeling Lou. When my battery took a dump I went to the local dealer, battery was still under warranty. My wife, who never wants to go in a dealer went with.

This was in the showroom.

One small note. The one local had a deep blue interior and convertible top. She fell in love with it. I will admit it's growing on me. (I wish they would sell it!)

Lou, that bug travels all over the country. It's almost as deadly as the new strains of flu.

I almost swapped my "heavily customized" 2002 MY Coupe for a 2016 yellow Stingray (2LT) a couple of weeks ago. The C7 only had 2K miles and was offered at under $50K.

I ultimately passed. Why? I'm 69. With only 36K miles on its odometer, my C5 has 725 hp (flywheel), coil-overs, a custom stereo/navigation/back-up camera system driven through a 900 watt, 5 channel amp, etc. It outperforms any new C7 (except perhaps the Z06), and has every feature I would want.

My assessment was that I might only have 5 years left to drive before father time took away the fun. If so, it would be a shame to **** away the money on a C7.

Now if I was 10 years younger, I'd be showing you pictures of my new yellow Stingray in this post, and waiting for the warranty to expire so I could dramatically upgrade the engine's power, etc. I suspect, however, that I would miss the C5 since its rounded shape is very appealing to me. Some days I like the angular C7 shape better, other days I prefer the C5 shape. So to resolve that dilemma I might have sprung for the C7 AND KEPT the C5. [Uh oh....mama wouldn't like that.]

Besides its polarizing shape, the only downside to the C7 I have found so far is its stereo system. While the C7's 2LT/3LT stereo is an improvement over prior generations, it isn't THAT good. And to my knowledge no posters to the C7 Forum have yet successfully upgraded their entire system. [As best I can tell this is because the C7's head unit is comprehensively integrated with other technology systems, making any upgrade problematic. Some day this may change, but 4 years into the C7's life it remains unresolved.] It's one more reason I would lament trading the C5. The older I get, the more pleasure I get from playing classic rock REAL LOUD while driving (AC/DC, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Led Zep, etc.). A marginal stereo system wouldn't enhance that pleasure.

My overall observation is that the newer the vehicle, the more difficult it is to modify. And modifying our rides is a major part of the ownership pleasure.

Bottom line here: it's a Miller Lite kinda thing. Less filling? Tastes great? No, its both.

The Lizzard

Last spring I traded in my 04 for a 17 GS. The hardest part of doing deal was saying good bye to my 04 . I love my 17 GS and the person who bought my 04 contacted me and loves the 04 . So it turned out to be a win win situation. I haven't had my 17 GS in for anything other than oil change. Once I took a GS for a ride it got a grip on me and wouldn't let go. I had to order one. Good luck on your decision!
