Would LOVE to keep my 04 as well but circumstances beyond my control... Decisions, Decisions.
Right now the only thing preventing me from pulling the trigger is I want what's pictured. Unfortunately Laguna Blue and those wheels was only available up to 2016 so I'd have to find and buy used.
I visit the C7 section very often to keep up on all the issues the C7 ‘s are having. As much as I would like to sell my 04 Z06 I think I will still wait a while before I buy one.
Look in the C7 section for "Warble Sound Occasionally" That combined with an abysmal dealer who damaged my car and terrible customer service from GM sealed the deal. If you go that route I HIGHLY recommend against the A8. It's phenomenal when it works but look in the C7 section for all the A8 issues as well. Mine started having failure to engage reverse normally the week before it went back.

When I look at the clean lines of the C5, I just don't feel the need for a C7 with the angular look.
And good used parts for the C5 are easy to source since they are getting parted out every day (or turned into dedicated track cars).
Add the C7 price tag and problems to the mix..... not me.
A while back I met up with someone close to where I live and he bought a c5 part off of me. Really nice guy. Has a beautiful C5 and has done a lot of mods to it. Very fast car. We were chatting for a while and he was telling me how a lot of his friends in the corvette club have all these new C7’s and they were asking him why he was not getting one yet. Like he told me he likes his C5 and has won a lot of car awards with it. This guy is retired. It great to here other guys perspective on the C7’s.
I’ve had several Vettes over the years and I can honestly say the C7 is my favorite...by far. Everyone has their own opinions and preferences but for me the C7 has been great and no issues at all. I used to think my old Z06 handled great, but this thing with the Z51 is amazing.
Oh and being boosted makes it even better

Cars can grow on one over time, the C7 just has not. Absolutely can't get over the C7 back end mostly, but overall just too sharp/jagged for me.
I'm a car guy however, not necessarily a Corvette guy. I like the C5 and the C6 is close. But not a fan of the C7
Guys, don't get me wrong I love my C5 but as stated by grantv the C7 has grown on me. On the flip side, with all of the horror stories i'm reading over at the C7 section I wonder is it worth the hassle of constantly running back and forth to the dealer, not saying they are all bad........... but it would be just my luck

I wouldn't get too excited about the issues except the A8. You can always seek out a '14 with the 6 speed auto. I had one last year. Absolutely loved the car but the auto was not for me. I am currently on the hunt for a manual. I didnt want all of the extras (dry sump oiling, electronic diff etc..) to complicate a street car. I had a basic 2LT car with performance exhaust and nav. In stock form it will outrun and out handle any stock C5.
If you are on the fence and need more seat time you may consider having both for a while and selling the least favorite in a few months. That was my plan and it worked although I will more than likely keep my Z06 and future C7. If you are looking for a change I recommend it.

Lou, if you look at any section of the Forum, you will see posts about issues with every generation. I've had my 2016 Z06 almost 2 years with zero issues. Great car and dealership. Are C7's worth 5 to 10 times more than a C5? Absolutely not.
If you need to scratch the itch, go for it. Ideally, if you can swing it, you keep your C5.
You only live once, Lou. With patience, you should be able to find a really nice Laguna Blue C7 at a price that you like.
That's what I plan on doing Jack. We shall see.

Oh I know that. I wasn't referring to every and all C7's
As for keeping the C5, I can swing it...no problem. It's the other half that's the problem.
