Agree with my friend Striper. It’s a shame how Dennis left the Corvette people, and I wont judge anyone who states they were stiffed because from what I’ve observed, they were. He really left in a bad way, which is totally opposite from how he treated me. We even BS’d about head units and other things during my phone calls to him, which he answered.
JEFF, are you having some adhesion problems on the bezel? I have a solution now, since I’m now covering mine with matching diamond stitched leather.
SHAOLIN, you removed the entire radio frame from the car! Did you remove the entire upper dash to do that? Just curious.
BREWMEISTER, I have never had a visibility problem with my targa off, but its not the same as a convertible, if thats what you have. I would guess sun hitting from the back of the car might be a problem, but the Kenwood has a tilt feature which works well on that problem. In fact when my roof is ON, I have it tilted up from the bottom, with the targa off, it’s vertical.
Yes, I removed the whole thing. It was 110* and I was adding a HUD at the same time. Was much more pleasant doing the work inside my air conditioned office. I also soaked the dash in liquid teflon, wasn't a big deal to pull everything, I'd say it took less than an hour.
I had Dennis do mine about a year ago now. One thing no one ever mentioned and I read 100's of posts was the texture difference in the bezel after the mod. After the cutting, patching, it gets painted and the surface texture changes. I didn't like it.
I'm not crazy about the back up camera either. It really lacks color on the screen. I've tried all kinds of adjustments and nothing has made it better. A new camera is in order this summer.
My sound system ain't broke so I don't need to fix it. The past few Corvettes I had came with Bose equipment which works fine for me. Just another mod, another opportunity to invest $25,000 in a $15,000 car. Duh? Not sure how anyone was able to drive without Bluetooth, MP3 players or cel phones but ...........
Mine's still UNMOLESTED! Maybe the next owner will 'improve" it? Noisy exhaust to annoy neighbors, NOT. Loud stereo so they can hear me blocks away, NOT. Look at me, I have a loud radio! I'm 17 years old again! Hope you like my music!

... it's not always about being loud
I daily drive my car, which means I need hands free calling to answer work related calls. I also have become accustomed to turn-by-turn map directions in other vehicles and not having it in the Vette has gotten old. So even though the factory Bose equipment "works," I had to ditch it and modernize (currently have a single din radio until the double din shows up).

What a bunch of hyperbole.
I like listening to my own music rather than listening to the radio. The cost of my upgrade was less than $300, including speakers. Stock subwoofers are still there, but replacement speakers sound much crisper and less muddy, and really isn't any louder than the stock system. My Corvette is a daily driver, and being able to listen to my own tunes is much more relaxing than some random songs I may or may not like, not to mention all the commercials.

$25k for a stereo? Does that include a live performance from Van Halen too?

Do your homework!!
Even Dennis was aware of the texture difference. I went full Kenwood and I like my camera. Since I was covering my bezel, final surface didn’t matter and Dennis gave me a break because of the slightly less work.
Our new bezels are not done by hand like double d mods and our early versions. That version required a spray on texture that was rough to the touch and was inconsistent from bezel to bezel. Also it was prone to cracking or peeling over time.
The VetteNuts Molded DD Bezel is built just like your OEM was. The grain is stamped into the mold and then the color coat is applied. They are as close as you will EVER get to OEM and look like it cam with the car. We spent a lot of time on the shape and also that the HVAC remains in the OEM location.

He may have been aware, but I never read comments from anyone commenting on it. Needless to say I was quite surprised.
I did a complete replacement. Double Din for all the modern convenience, better sound which doesn't-mean loud, just better. I got all my equipment and Bezel from Dennis. Could not be happier.
